Wow! We knew the final season of Stranger Things would be intense, but the new trailer really showed us just how much. Seeing what’s in store for the characters – kids, teens, and adults alike – has us worried for everyone. And Vecna is back, which is… terrifying. You can check out the Stranger Things 5 trailer below.
Stranger Things 5 Releases Incredible Final Season Trailer
The new trailer for Stranger Things 5 is incredibly emotional. It shows scenes of happy holidays – Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year’s Eve – quickly turning into moments of intense sadness, suggesting we’re all going to cry a lot while watching it, possibly even with a crowd! This is the final return to Hawkins, and it looks like things are going to get really chaotic. (Please, just keep Steve and his hair safe!)
Everything We See in the Stranger Things 5 Trailer
The Stranger Things 5 Trailer Begins with Vecna Up to No Good
Okay, let’s break down this Stranger Things 5 trailer. The first thing that really struck me was Vecna. We get a long look at him, confidently strolling through the Creel House in the Upside Down – he seems genuinely pleased with himself. Seriously, the close-up of his claws is unsettling! It looks like all his creepy followers are gathered around him. He opens the trailer with a chilling “At long last, we can begin,” which, let’s be real, probably means things are about to get really bad. And the Upside Down itself? It’s thriving, covered in these incredibly vivid vines. Prepare for trouble, folks!
The Party Is Not Doing Well
The trailer then quickly shifts to a heartbreaking scene: Dustin is clearly devastated by Eddie’s death and looks incredibly lonely. It’s understandable – we’re still grieving Eddie’s loss too! Seriously, bring Eddie back – and this isn’t the last we’ll say it!
Suddenly, we see Hawkins completely devastated – reduced to ruins after a massive gate opened there. It’s a grim situation, and things aren’t getting any easier. The trailer for Stranger Things 5 confirms our suspicions, revealed by Eleven’s missing person poster: Hawkins is now under military quarantine, trapping the group inside. We see Mike and El talking on a tower, with Mike admitting they’re losing hope, saying, “We’re really starting to lose it, being stuck in here. No end in sight.” And it’s easy to understand why – even before all this, Hawkins never seemed like a pleasant place to be.
Joyce is exploring a tunnel that seems to lead to the Upside Down, using a flashlight to guide her. At the same time, Steve, Nancy, Robin, and Jonathan are secretly investigating and have discovered a hidden door concealed behind a bookshelf.
Dungeons & Dragons Is Alive and Well in this Stranger Things 5 Trailer
In a hopeful moment, Mike declares, “Maybe tonight we finally get a break.” The scene cuts to Eleven and Hopper battling their way through the chaotic Upside Down. Mike’s words seem to foreshadow their goal: to find Vecna and end the conflict for good, together. The trailer’s key image mirrors a powerful moment from Stranger Things 4: Mike is shown strategizing over Dungeons & Dragons miniatures, with most of the group – Robin, Jonathan, Nancy, Steve, Joyce, Will, Dustin, and Lucas – gathered nearby. Simultaneously, Eleven and Hopper are actively fighting in the Upside Down and Hawkins, with Eleven demonstrating impressive control over her powers as she leaps into the air, seemingly heading towards the Lab. It’s a classic example of compelling television storytelling!
The trailer then shows a van approaching a radio tower in Hawkins, with Joyce appearing to pray while Mike looks on. El gently scolds him, reminding him this situation is different from their usual games and that they can’t control the outcome. The group, naturally, turns to their Dungeons & Dragons materials to strategize. We then see a disheartened Will, followed by a dramatic shot of Nancy and Jonathan witnessing the sky above them erupt with exploding vines. Finally, Nancy and Murray observe a similar fiery incursion of the Upside Down at the radio tower.
If you’re a fan of Stranger Things and Dungeons & Dragons, you can now get an official Hellfire Club campaign kit to add some of that atmosphere to your games.
Stranger Things 5 Brings the Action: Erica, Lucas, Max, and More
Nancy insists someone is trying to destroy the world and won’t rest until everyone has suffered as much as possible. The scene then cuts to her, visibly distraught, washing blood off her hands and crying. Is Jonathan in danger? We briefly wonder, but the new trailer for Stranger Things 5 quickly grabs our attention with a much more important moment: Steve comforting a crying Dustin. They’re adorable, and that’s what really matters!
Okay, so then we get this really extended sequence of Eleven gearing up for a showdown, and she just unleashes this massive wave of energy over the entire town of Hawkins – it looked almost like a protective shield, honestly. Intercut with that, we get these quick, emotional hits: Nancy and Jonathan sharing a tearful moment, Lucas facing off with a Demogorgon in the tunnels, and Nancy quickly raising her gun and firing. It’s a lot happening at once, and definitely leaves you on the edge of your seat!
Dustin passionately states their unwavering loyalty to each other, underscored by dramatic visuals of storms and levitating rocks. The scene then shifts to a heartwarming group hug involving Lucas, Erica, Dustin, Jonathan, and possibly Will, with Steve observing. We also see Erica, Steve, Nancy, and Jonathan speeding away in a car—Nancy urging them on with a determined “Do it!”—alongside El struggling with her abilities, Lucas heroically carrying Max out of the hospital while under attack by Demodogs, and a glimpse of Mrs. Wheeler and Holly in their kitchen.
Stranger Things 5‘s Final Season Trailer Is Already One Big Massacre
The trailer for Stranger Things 5 definitely gave us a glimpse of Linda Hamilton joining the cast! She’s shown firing at a group of Demogorgons while they attack. Mike, Will, Joyce, and some new characters are together, but Will looks badly injured. Suddenly, a massive Demogorgon jumps towards them! It’s not the only one, and even explosions don’t seem to be able to stop them – it’s a chaotic and violent scene!
VECNA IS BACK AND SCARIER THAN EVER In This Stranger Things 5 Trailer
The trailer ends with a terrifying look at Vecna, more menacing and overgrown with vines than before. He approaches a seemingly unconscious Will, using his powers to lift the boy and bring him close. Vecna then says, “You are going to help me,” and chillingly touches Will’s face – it’s a truly horrifying moment!
And that’s all we get for now from the Stranger Things 5 trailer. Let us sit a minute in silence.
Stranger Things 5‘s Synopsis

Okay, so we finally have the official rundown for Stranger Things 5, and it sounds…intense. The new season picks up in the fall of 1987, with Hawkins still reeling from all those rifts opening up. Basically, everyone’s laser-focused on finding and finishing off Vecna, but he’s vanished, and no one has a clue where he is or what he’s planning. To make matters worse, the government has locked down the town under military control and is still hunting Eleven, forcing her to go into hiding again. And with the anniversary of Will’s disappearance coming up, a really unsettling feeling hangs over everything. The synopsis promises a final showdown – a truly massive battle against a darkness bigger and more dangerous than anything they’ve encountered before. It’s clear they’re saying everyone needs to be all-in, the whole gang together, for this last stand. It’s setting up to be a really emotional and epic conclusion.
ONE. LAST. TIME. But whose last breath is it? We’ll have to wait and see to find out.
