The trailer for the final episode of Stranger Things season five is now available. The episode, called “The Rightside Up,” will be the last one ever, and it’s coming to both theaters and Netflix on December 31st.
This season, Netflix released its show in two parts. The first four episodes came out on Thanksgiving, and the final three were released at Christmas.
The latest episode built up to the season finale by showing Vecna’s plan to connect our world with a terrifying alternate dimension called the Abyss. Max and the others discovered what he was up to, and they’ve come up with a risky plan: go into the Abyss, save the children Vecna has taken, and destroy the dimension with a bomb.
One last trailer.
The final episode of STRANGER THINGS premieres TOMORROW at 8PM ET | 5PM PT.

Matt and Ross Duffer created Stranger Things almost ten years ago, and the first season became available on Netflix in July 2016.
The show was an instant success, and seasons two and three arrived in 2017 and 2019, respectively. Season four, similar to the latest season, was released in two volumes in 2022. The story has also expanded beyond the screen with a stage play, Stranger Things: First Shadow, which debuted in London in 2023 and is now running on Broadway.
In a recent conversation with Variety, the creators of the show, the Duffer brothers, talked about the obstacles Eleven will face in the final season. Ross Duffer explained that while the supernatural villain Vecna is a major threat, the military has always been a problem for the characters, starting in Season 1. Even after the character Brenner’s death, someone else always takes his place – in Season 5, that person is Kay.
He explained that Kali was meant to offer a more critical and realistic perspective, contrasting with Mike’s optimistic outlook. While Mike envisions a positive outcome, Kali questions the practicality of achieving a normal life given their circumstances. This struggle with finding a viable solution and maintaining normalcy is central to Eleven’s storyline this season.
As a huge fan, I’m so excited for the finale! It’s going to be a full two hours and five minutes long, and for the first time ever, we’ll get to see it on the big screen. They’re showing it in over 500 theaters across the US and Canada, starting New Year’s Eve at 5 PM Pacific Time – the same day it hits Netflix. Apparently, the response has been incredible! The creators, the Duffer brothers, said over 1.1 million people have already signed up to see it in theaters, and over 3,500 showings in more than 620 theaters are completely sold out. It’s going to be a massive event!
Stranger Things is a huge hit for Netflix, recently reaching over 1.2 billion views. The final season is expected to be a moving and exciting ending for Eleven and all the characters we’ve come to know.
