Becoming an EGOT winner – someone who has earned an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony Award – is a rare and prestigious accomplishment. As of February 1st, Steven Spielberg has joined this exclusive group after winning a Grammy Award. He earned the award for producing Music by John Williams, which was named Best Music Film.

Steven Spielberg is already an award-winning director, having earned four Emmys for projects like The Pacific and Band of Brothers, a Tony Award for A Strange Loop, and three Oscars for films including Schindler’s List and Saving Private Ryan. He’s now adding a Grammy to his collection, representing both his first nomination and win in that category.
Spielberg expressed his gratitude to the Grammy voters, saying their recognition of Music by John Williams is incredibly meaningful to him and the entire Amblin team, including Darryl Frank and Justin Falvey. He also congratulated their collaborators at Imagine and the Walt Disney Company.
Receiving this recognition means a great deal to me, as it confirms something I’ve believed for over 50 years: John Williams’ impact on music and culture is enormous, and his talent and lasting contributions are unmatched. I’m also very proud to have been a part of Laurent’s wonderful film.
Very few people – only 21 others – have achieved the rare feat of winning an Emmy, a Grammy, an Oscar, and a Tony Award. Now, this celebrated filmmaker is one of them, joining a prestigious group of entertainers like Elton John, Audrey Hepburn, Viola Davis, and Rita Moreno.
