Steve Rogers Faces a Hidden War in New Captain America Comic Series

In July, Steve Rogers, aka Captain America, will once again be in action, this time traveling back to the past. The upcoming “Captain America” comic series finds him just after he’s thawed from the ice, but prior to joining the Avengers. This new series is penned by Chip Zdarsky, renowned for his work on “Daredevil,” and features art by Valerio Schiti, who has previously illustrated “Avengers.

The initial scene unfolds with Captain America engaged in a thrilling motorcycle pursuit. His objective: apprehending a potential suicide bomber. Utilizing his protective shield, he skillfully deflects incoming bullets and ultimately subdues the suspect. Subsequently, individuals in lab coats observe him as he engages in combat with training dummies, analyzing his power output and reaction times for what seems like a scientific study of sorts.

In the world Steve now finds himself, things are not as they were when he last remembered. As he lay frozen in ice, time moved on and brought significant changes. The nature of conflicts has shifted; they’re no longer just overt confrontations out in the open. Instead, it’s a cloak-and-dagger world filled with secrets, concealed adversaries, and underhanded politics.

In this fresh setting, Steve encounters a formidable predicament as Victor Von Doom seizes control over Latveria. Faced with a choice, Steve ponders: Should he adopt the stealthy combat methods that others employ, or remain steadfast to his identity and forge his unique path?

In an interview with Newsarama, Zdarsky shared his enthusiasm for working on the series, stating, “I’m absolutely loving it!” He further explained, “It reminds me of the excitement I felt when starting Daredevil, as each issue feels exceptionally unique. I hope readers will share that same sense of wonder when they finally dive into it.” Moreover, he hinted that despite being set in the past, this story will unveil crucial events that will significantly impact future developments.

Beginning July 2, the fresh series titled “Captain America (2025) #1” will be available for purchase. This issue is penned by Chip Zdarsky, illustrated by Valerio Schiti, colored by Frank Martin, and adorned with a cover by Ben Harvey.
