Steve Martin Reflects on Selena Gomez’s Growth Over Four Seasons of Only Murders in the Building

As a die-hard fan of the enchanting world of entertainment and a devoted admirer of the captivating series “Only Murders in the Building,” I find myself utterly enthralled by the profound growth and transformation of the exceptional Selena Gomez, who plays Mabel on this show. Her journey from a self-possessed, dignified, and sophisticated individual to an even more refined and mature person is nothing short of awe-inspiring.

During a special chat with E! News at the debut of “Only Murders in the Building” in Los Angeles, actor Steve Martin expressed his admiration for Selena Gomez’s personal evolution across the show’s four seasons. He mentioned that Gomez had already shown remarkable character progression even before their collaboration on the Hulu production, and she had truly blossomed into an exceptional individual.

Upon our initial encounter with Selena, she exuded an air of self-assuredness, dignity, and refinement. Over time, these qualities have only grown stronger, as one might expect with maturity.

He further added, “But she was already there, a real person we admired and respected.”

In the shared interview with E! News, Gomez also visited to appreciate her fellow actors on the show. She expressed, “It’s such a pleasure to surround myself with role models and be continually reminded that life is wonderful.”

Martin’s affection and regard for his fellow actors on Only Murders in the Building extends beyond Selena Gomez. In addition, the seasoned actor has expressed high praise for co-star Meryl Streep, who will be returning as Lorreta Durkin in the upcoming season. Martin admires Meryl not only for her delightful personality but also for her exceptional acting abilities.

In the interview, I expressed that she elevates our performance. Respect for her abilities and character is profound, yet off-camera, it’s all about enjoying her company and collaborating with her – a delightful experience!

It’s worth mentioning that Selena Gomez has been nominated for an Emmy Award in the category of Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series for her performance on the show. In a recent interview, she expressed her feelings about the nomination, saying “I think they express it quite well. I feel like I’ve truly deserved this recognition, and I’m deeply grateful to be acknowledged in any form or fashion with this series.”

Beyond merely starring in the series, I myself am proudly serving as its executive producer – a role that has earned us an Emmy nomination.
