Sterling K. Brown, Rita Ora and John Kim Have Been Cast in the Live-Action ‘Voltron’ Movie

As a die-hard fan of Voltron since its initial release back in my childhood, I can hardly contain my excitement over the live-action movie adaptation! The casting of Sterling K. Brown, Rita Ora, and John Kim alongside Henry Cavill and newcomer Daniel Quinn-Toye is nothing short of a dream come true.

Actors Sterling K. Brown, Rita Ora, and John Kim are now part of the cast in the live-action film adaptation of a popular mecha anime, which is being helmed by director Rawson Marshall Thurber for Amazon MGM Productions.

In the upcoming cast, they’ll be joined by Henry Cavill and fresh talent Daniel Quinn-Toye. The filming is set to start this coming December in Australia.

The series “Voltron” is an American animated television franchise, where the story revolves around a group of astronauts commandeering a massive robot called “Voltron.

Details about the movie’s storyline remain secret, but during VoltCon in October (held in Indianapolis), Thurber revealed a video message to Voltron enthusiasts, mentioning:

It’s important to me that our movie captures the essence and soul of Voltron. This new story will introduce a fresh crew of pilots, while still maintaining the classic features you and I cherish. We’re adapting Voltron for live-action, but we’ll keep those legendary aspects intact.

Back in March 2022, I got thrilling news as a Voltron fan: The live-action movie was officially back on track for production! Rawson Marshall Thurber is set to direct, and he’s teaming up with Ellen Shanman to co-write the screenplay. Todd Lieberman, David Hoberman, and Bob Koplar are producing this exciting project, making it a dream come true for Voltron enthusiasts like myself.

As a gaming enthusiast, here’s how I might put it: “I was caught up in a fierce competition among bigwigs like Warner Bros. Pictures, Universal Pictures, and Amazon Prime Video, all vying for the rights to this film. It wasn’t until August 1 that Amazon secured the deal. Fast forward to October 3, and I was thrilled to learn that newcomer Daniel Quinn-Toye would be stepping into a main role.

It became known on October 10th that Henry Cavill will take part in the live-action cast, though his specific character has yet to be revealed.
