Stephen King Suggests This Year’s Oscars Should Be Canceled Amid LA Wildfire: ‘Not Voting In…’

Despite numerous people continuing to grapple with the aftermath of the recent Southern California wildfires, a well-known author voiced his thoughts on various social media platforms.

Stephen King has decided not to participate in the Oscars this year, as he believes they should be cancelled. He also expressed his concern about Los Angeles being on fire without any glamour associated with it.

After postponing and extending the timeline for their nominations, the 97th Academy Awards has set the date for nominee announcements on January 23, as reported by Deadline. Previously, the Academy had delayed nominations once before, shifting them from January 17 to January 19 in 2025.

Currently, over 100,000 individuals are affected by the Southern California wildfires, and tragically, at least 25 lives have been lost due to these blazes.

Earlier on, Jean Smart suggested that television networks giving airtime to award shows should contemplate donating their earnings from these broadcasts to those affected by the fires and the brave firefighters battling them.

To clarify, I can’t help but feel a sense of deep concern as I learn that stars like Paris Hilton, Milo Ventimiglia, Adam Brody, Leighton Meester, Billy Crystal, and many others have seen their properties engulfed by the relentless wildfires currently ravaging Hollywood.

A wildfire erupted in Pacific Palisades, Eaton Canyon, Malibu, the Hollywood Hills, and other parts of Los Angeles County. This occurred after a powerful and devastating windstorm that struck last week.

Last week, President Joe Biden prolonged his stay in Los Angeles. He plans to meet with first responders and those impacted by the recent disaster.

He stated that fires are currently causing a significant calamity for the nation, and furthermore, he ordered the federal administration to shoulder all expenses related to disaster relief aid.
