Stellar Blade’s Steam Rollout Mysteriously Blocked in Over 100 Countries

It seems that the release of Stellar Blade on Steam has been unexpectedly halted in nations such as Egypt, Vietnam, Estonia, and Cuba.

It’s believed that the countries where sales are currently blocked might be similar to those where the PlayStation Network isn’t accessible. However, no official explanation has been given for this blockade.

However, what’s perplexing is that Stellar Blade can be played without registering for PSN, leading gamers to question the reason behind the limited sales.

It’s plausible the block on Stellar Blade isn’t due to a mandatory PSN connection, but rather because it has an optional one. Although neither ShiftUp nor Sony have confirmed this yet, some speculate that the block could be in place because players are invited to sign up using their PSN account for an opportunity to secure an optional skin for Eve.

The game isn’t available in ~130 countries on Steam and Epic Games Store.

Additionally intriguing, it appears that ShiftUp was taken aback by the limitations. Although their team addressed numerous disgruntled tweets on X/Twitter, questioning the dissatisfied users about their location, they have yet to disclose any additional details regarding why the game is unavailable in specific regions.

Although Sony provided millions of fans with opportunities to relish exclusive gaming experiences that were previously console-bound, the company’s PC launch has been met with criticism. Many gamers have voiced their discontent towards Sony due to the compulsory PlayStation Network (PSN) connection demand. This meant that players had to establish an account and link it to access their chosen game, regardless of whether the title was a single-player game like God of War or The Last of Us. This requirement has sparked resentment among PC gamers in regions where PSN is inaccessible.

Last year in May, I was part of the Helldivers 2 gaming community, and boy, did we hit a bump! Sony announced that Steam users like me would have to link our PlayStation Network accounts to play. But hold on, they swiftly changed their minds, retracting the decision within just a few days.

Since then, an additional problem has arisen because PSN isn’t accessible in certain regions, leading to the removal of Helldivers 2 from approximately 177 countries initially. More recently, in January 2025, Sony announced they no longer demand a connection to a PlayStation Network account for some PC games; instead, they provide incentives for those who choose to link their accounts.

On June 11, the Steam version of Stellar Blade will officially debut, offering PC-exclusive features such as AI scaling enhanced by Nvidia DLSS 4 and AMD FSR 3, a customizable frame rate, voiceovers in Japanese and Chinese, support for ultrawide displays, more detailed environment textures, and compatibility with DualSense for haptic feedback and trigger effects.

iggn.ru‘s Stellar Blade review returned a 7/10. We said: “Stellar Blade is great in all of the most important ways for an action game, but dull characters, a lackluster story, and several frustrating elements of its RPG mechanics prevent it from soaring along with the best of the genre.”
