The futuristic action game from Shift Up, titled Stellar Blade, initially launched as a PlayStation 5 exclusive in 2024, has now been made available on PC and has enjoyed an impressive debut on this platform. As per the data from SteamDB, the game managed to attract over 100,000 concurrent users (CCU) on Steam just a day after its release – a figure that surpasses even the PC versions of Sony’s first-party games.
According to this measurement, the top releases from Sony’s in-house studios are Ghost of Tsushima: Director’s Cut (which hit a high of 77,154 Concurrent Users), God of War (with a peak of 73,529 Concurrent Users), and Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered (peaking at 66,436 Concurrent Users).
Stellar Blade has set a record as one of Sony’s most successful PC launches for a published title since Helldivers 2, given its unique characteristics, particularly the fact that it was released simultaneously on both PS5 and PC rather than being initially exclusive to consoles and later ported.
It’s plausible that Stellar Blade’s success can be attributed to the strategic timing of its PC port, which followed its PS5 debut by a year, alongside its inherent excellence and allure. Moreover, the PC edition includes some bonus content, while Shift Up boosted interest with a well-timed partnership between Stellar Blade and their popular gacha game, Goddess of Victory: Nikke, further enhancing its popularity.
Recently, Shift Up announced they are working on a follow-up to Stellar Blade, titled Project Spirits, providing initial information about their upcoming project.
