Stellar Blade Director Receives Recognition from South Korean President

Hyung-tae Kim, CEO of Shift Up and director of Stellar Blade, was honored with a Presidential Commendation in South Korea. The award, presented by the South Korean President, recognizes Kim’s contributions to the country’s video game industry.

Although Stellar Blade received an award, the recognition also highlighted Shift Up’s other popular games, including Goddess of Victory: NIKKE.

Stellar Blade Was a Game-Changing Title

Stellar Blade initially launched in April 2024, and became available on PC just over a year afterward. It quickly became a hit, selling millions of copies thanks to its stunning graphics, engaging combat, and captivating storyline.

A major part of Stellar Blade’s appeal is its main character, Eve. She was designed using a scan of a South Korean model, which explains why players have been so drawn to her design.

Shift Up’s director, Hyung-tae Kim, recently received an award from South Korean President Lee Jae Myung, according to Automaton Media. The award recognized Kim’s work in the gaming industry and his success in expanding its reach internationally.

The report highlighted that Kim expressed sincere gratitude to his development teams and Shift Up for their crucial contributions to the creation of Stellar Blade.

So, good news for Stellar Blade fans! Back in September, I heard the devs were already working on a sequel and things were going really well. Then, in November, rumors started popping up that Shift Up is planning to bring Stellar Blade to more consoles – like Xbox and Nintendo! Fingers crossed that happens, because I want everyone to be able to play this awesome game.
