At the beginning of Star Wars Celebration 2025 held in Japan, the long-awaited trailer for Star Wars Zero Company was unveiled along with a release date: The strategy game developed by Bit Reactor and Respawn Entertainment is scheduled to launch on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S in the year 2026.
Experience the thrill as you take charge of an elite squad in this gritty and genuine tale, unfolding at the edge of the Clone Wars. Assume the role of Hawks, a veteran Republic officer, now leading Zero Company – a unique band of soldiers-for-hire, each with their own extraordinary backgrounds from across the galaxy.
Hawks and Zero Company are brought together for a mission aimed at confronting a growing danger that could engulf the entire galaxy if ignored. To prevail, Hawks will guide a group of reluctant partners who need to put aside their disputes to tackle challenges almost insurmountable. The plot of this standalone game is an innovative creation by Bit Reactor.
It appears the main opponents will likely be the droid armies of the Separatists, but it’s possible the game could introduce new challenges involving Maul’s Shadow Collective, the criminal underworld, or even the Republic itself as we approach the end of the Clone Wars. This is a time of transition, with Order 66 and the rise of the Galactic Empire on the horizon.
It appears that Zero Company was specifically designed for console gaming, as demonstrated by the prevalent use of radial menus in the showcased gameplay. This could potentially cause concern among PC gamers, but if the execution is well done, it might not necessarily be a problem.
At the developers’ discussion during Celebration, they unveiled that players can personalize their primary character, choosing from various races such as Zabraks, Twi’leks, Togruta, and humans. The game seems to incorporate a social aspect reminiscent of mechanics found in Firaxis’ Marvel’s Midnight Suns.
The festivities also unveiled A Pirate’s Fortune, the latest DLC expansion for Star Wars Outlaws.
