‘Star Wars: The Acolyte’ Introduces Significant Sith Lord in Live-Action

As a devoted fan of Star Wars and a long-time follower of the Expanded Universe, I have eagerly anticipated the release of “Star Wars: The Acolyte.” The conclusion of its eighth and final episode left me with mixed feelings, as the journey was both turbulent and thought-provoking.

The eighth and final episode of “Star Wars: The Acolyte” aired today, bringing an end to a rollercoaster ride of a series. Along the way, it encountered various controversies, death threats, attempted review manipulation, and more.

Some people were thrilled by the finale’s ending, while others responded with indifference. Osha’s story conclusion was unexpected and broke the norm. Although the episode seemed shallow in places, it made room for two notable guest appearances that left a lasting impression.

In the beginning of the episode, I join Qimir and Osha as they set off towards Brendok with the intention of stopping Mae from killing Master Sol. Deep within a cave, a figure emerges from the darkness, watching us intently – it’s none other than Darth Plagueis the Wise, the enigmatic master of Palpatine.

From a devoted fan’s perspective, I can only piece together fragments of information about the enigmatic Plagueis in live-action. His relentless pursuit of immortality fueled his scientific explorations, delving into midi-chlorians and the Force. Eager to create life and elude death, he left an intriguing yet shadowy legacy in Palpatine’s accounts.

In my gaming experience, Plagueis didn’t make it in the end despite his ambitious pursuit, falling prey to his own Sith apprentice according to the Rule of Two. However, his wisdom lived on through Palpatine, shaping critical turning points such as luring Anakin Skywalker towards the Dark Side with tempting offers of life preservation.

Based on my extensive knowledge of Star Wars lore, I can tell you that the complexity of Palpatine’s situation has become clearer to me over time. It’s no longer just a simple prolongation of life through cloning technology. Palpatine himself was only able to extend his existence imperfectly, falling short of truly restoring him to his former glory. Having delved deep into the intricacies of this universe, I find it fascinating how even someone as powerful as Palpatine could not evade the inevitable march of time.

How does the arrival of Darth Plagueis affect live-action Star Wars? The series suggests several intriguing possibilities. Although we don’t know for sure when Plagueis selected Palpatine as his disciple, the program makes us ponder if he had another apprentice prior to Sheev.

Additionally, this discovery brings up intriguing possibilities regarding Plagueis’s role in the birth of Osha and Mae, as well as any interactions he may have had with the witches of Brendok. Given his expertise in manipulating midi-chlorians to create life, these hypotheses appear quite credible.

The show raised questions about whether Qimir knew about the Sith Lord’s existence. But considering Qimir’s familiarity with the Power of Two and his insight into Mae and Osha’s true identities, it’s plausible that he was taught by the Sith Lord and assigned to locate the sisters.

Another possibility is that Plagueis didn’t engineer Osha and Mae himself, but rather discovered them unexpectedly. Drawn in by Mother Aniseya’s formidable powers, he kept a keen eye on the two sisters.

At a recent interview, Headland suggested weaving “The Acolyte” together with the tales of Plagueis and Palpatine, acknowledging the intricacy and possible complications of this endeavor. Should additional seasons materialize, viewers eagerly anticipate her fulfillment of this intention.
