For the past couple of years now, Lucasfilm has made it a tradition to launch a new series on Disney+ featuring Star Wars shorts on May 4th. Previously, we saw Tales of the Jedi and Tales of the Empire. However, this year’s Star Wars Day introduces some mischief and villainy with Star Wars: Tales of the Underworld. This series showcases several thrilling adventures in the shady criminal underbelly of the galaxy far, far away. The two principal characters are well-known bounty hunters from The Clone Wars, Cad Bane and Asajj Ventress, a former Sith assassin. As per Lucasfilm, the upcoming anthology series delves into the shady side of the Star Wars universe, focusing on the tales of two infamous villains – Asajj Ventress and Cad Bane. Following her stint in season three of The Bad Batch, assassin-turned-bounty hunter Ventress begins a new chapter in life, fleeing with an unforeseen partner. On the other hand, the rogue Bane, last depicted in live-action during The Book of Boba Fett, encounters his past when he squares off against an old acquaintance who has since become a law enforcer on the opposite end of the spectrum.
It’s likely that we’ll see other infamous characters from the Star Wars universe, such as gangsters and rogues, in this anthology series too. After all, a Hutt is bound to make an appearance at some stage, isn’t it? And who knows, perhaps Boba Fett is hiding within the underworld somewhere. The series was created by Dave Filoni, known for The Clone Wars, Rebels, The Bad Batch, and Ahsoka, and he serves as its supervising director. Matt Michnovetz writes for the series. The talented voice cast includes Nika Futterman as Asajj Ventress, Corey Burton as Cad Bane, along with Art Butler, Lane Factor, AJ LoCascio, Clare Grant, Dawn-Lyen Gardner, and Eric Lopez.
The space epic “Star Wars: Tales from the Underworld” debuts on Disney+’s streaming platform on May 4th, leaving us eagerly anticipating the show’s premiere based on the thrilling sneak peek we’ve seen.
