Star Wars: Skeleton Crew’s Future on Nielsen Charts Uncertain as Episode 4 Misses the Mark

For the week following the release of Episode 4 of “Skeleton Crew,” the Nielsen ratings have been announced, and similar to the preceding three episodes, the fourth one didn’t make it onto the Nielsen rankings.

On several instances, I’ve emphasized that Nielsen is the go-to benchmark for rating systems, and it’s worth noting that Disney+ has Nielsen tracking activated within its user accounts by default.

Given that four episodes have already been aired, it appears that “Skeleton Crew” may not appear on Nielsen charts – an unprecedented occurrence for “Star Wars” on Disney+. So far, this series has the least number of viewers and lowest ratings among all “Star Wars” shows released thus far.

What are the ratings?

For the week of December 16th through 22nd, Nielsen published its ratings, marking the day when Episode 4 of the series “Skeleton Crew” was made available on December 17th.

At the base of the Nielsen ratings chart sits “Special Ops: Lioness” on Paramount+ with a total of 326 million minutes watched. This indicates that the fourth episode of “Skeleton Crew” garnered fewer views, as it didn’t surpass the 326-million-minute threshold. It’s important to mention that Nielsen tracks viewership for all episodes within a week, so when you add up all the episodes of “Skeleton Crew,” their collective viewing time fell below the 326-million-minute mark.

In my opinion, the buzz surrounding “The Acolyte” seems to have overshadowed the appeal of “Skeleton Crew,” at least from where I stand as an admirer. The comparison between these two shows might have inadvertently dampened the enthusiasm for “Skeleton Crew” and Star Wars, unfortunately. Interestingly, even the fourth episode of “The Acolyte” didn’t make it to the Nielsen charts, marking a first for the series.

And for the record, Andor made the charts with 485 million minutes (Ahoska‘s fourth episode, 459).
