As a gamer with decades of Star Wars lore under my belt and a soft spot for coming-of-age stories, I must say that the trailer for “Star Wars: Skeleton Crew” left me positively buzzing! The suburban setting was an intriguing twist that caught my attention right away.
Titled “Star Wars: Skeleton Crew,” this space adventure has been in development for what feels like an eternity. However, at D23, we finally got a glimpse of it with the release of our first trailer! The movie, set to premiere on Disney+ on December 3, seems to draw inspiration from “The Goonies” in space. Jude Law takes center stage as the captain of a band of misfit kids who commandeer a starship called “The Onyx Cinder.” The story unfolds in a galaxy post-“Return of the Jedi.” Jon Watts was present to unveil the exciting new trailer for “Star Wars: Skeleton Crew,” which you can now watch here:
The trailer unveiled an unexpected setting in the Star Wars saga – suburban neighborhoods. This tale, reminiscent of Amblin productions, revolves around a group of school kids who stumble upon a dilapidated Jedi Temple, embarking on a perilous journey. As for Law, it’s no surprise he’s a Jedi, isn’t it?
Alongside the trailer, I’d like to share the official summary of “Star Wars: Skeleton Crew,” provided by Lucasfilm:
The story, titled “Skeleton Crew,” chronicles the odyssey of four young explorers as they stumble upon a puzzling secret in their supposedly secure cosmic dwelling. Subsequently, they find themselves adrift in an unfamiliar and perilous universe. Their quest to return home will lead them on a more exhilarating journey than they could have ever anticipated, complete with unexpected friends and foes along the way.
In this scenario, Jon Watts serves as the director for “Skeleton Crew,” with Chris Ford handling the writing duties. Dave Filoni and Jon Favreau act as producers for the series, which is set within the timeline of “The Mandalorian.” Apart from Watts and Ford, other directors on board include David Lowery, the Daniels (Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert), Jake Schreier, Bryce Dallas Howard, and Lee Isaac Chung. The cast consists of Jude Law, along with Ravi Cabot-Conyers, Kyriana Kratter, Robert Timothy Smith, Ryan Kiera Armstrong, Tunde Adebimpe, and Kerry Condon.
On December 3, 2024, the Disney+ streaming service will debut “Star Wars: Skeleton Crew.” Prepare for a lot of emotional connections and calls home!
