‘Star Wars’ Seemingly Confirms Mace Windu’s Fate After ‘Revenge of the Sith’

As a seasoned Star Wars fan with over three decades of galactic adventures under my belt, I can’t help but feel a sense of nostalgia when it comes to Mace Windu. The Prequel Trilogy, despite its flaws, was a golden era for Jedi lore, and Mace Windu was the embodiment of that era. Samuel L. Jackson brought an unparalleled presence to the character, making him one of the most beloved figures in the Star Wars universe.

As a devoted Star Wars enthusiast, I must confess that while the Prequel Trilogy may not have been as universally adored upon its initial release, it certainly delivered on a level that left me craving more after the Original Trilogy. Immersed in the Old Republic era, this trilogy offered an abundance of Jedi adventures, Sith encounters, and characters brimming with depth and brilliance.

One character among them is Mace Windu, famously portrayed by Samuel L. Jackson in the Star Wars Prequel Trilogy. At that point in the galaxy’s Jedi history, he was second only to Master Yoda in power. Known for his skill with a lightsaber, Mace Windu rose to become one of the most beloved Star Wars characters ever created.

However, it’s common knowledge that Windu seemingly perished at Palpatine’s hands following Anakin’s betrayal, and since then, he hasn’t been seen. Although the movies didn’t definitively prove his death, many fans assumed he was indeed dead. Yet, some recent hints and comments might indicate that he may still be alive!

In Star Wars, isn’t it true that Mace Windu’s death was more of an assumption than a confirmed fact? After all, in the realm of Star Wars, losing an arm is hardly a fatal blow – we’ve seen characters survive worse. Although he was thrown out of a window, we never actually witnessed him falling to his death, right? While it’s been a while since we’ve seen Mace Windu and most people seem to think he’s dead, no one has ever confirmed it. In fact, not even the Empire officials mentioned him again like they did with other Jedi, but we never really saw him die, did we?

Following this, Samuel L. Jackson has expressed interest in reprising his role for the franchise. He shared that he hopes his character could potentially have a standalone series similar to Ewan McGregor’s Obi-Wan Kenobi. In an interview with Jimmy Fallon, Jackson stated his desire for this opportunity.

In the Star Wars galaxy, there exists a unique history of individuals who have only one arm or hand. Even though my arm was severed and I took a fall from a window, it doesn’t make me any less alive. I am a Jedi, second in power only to Yoda in the entire universe! Therefore, I can defy gravity and float! Yes, he is still out there.

It’s not necessary for this to set a precedent moving forward, but it seems Jackson strongly believes that Mace Windu is still alive. There are previously established stories (now considered non-canon) that could potentially provide Disney with a chance to reintroduce the character; I doubt anyone would object to such an idea, wouldn’t you agree?

So, you might be wondering what became of Windu? Interestingly, he survived, but it seems like no one’s talking about him. A prequel novel named “Star Wars: Mace Windu: The Glass Abyss” could shed light on this mystery. In the book, there’s a part that discloses something intriguing: “Because Mace, too, has an attachment. Mace Windu has a secret love. Mace Windu loves the Republic.

if Mace lived through it all, he witnessed both the downfall of the Republic and the rise of the Empire. Given his deep affection for the Republic, Windu would have been saddened and disheartened by these events. This sadness and disillusionment might have led him to disappear, as he could no longer bear the reality that contradicted his cherished ideals. And this is likely why we never heard from Windu again.
