JJ Abrams never gave fans the one thing everyone wanted, and Mark Hamill just confirmed it.
Mark Hamill recently shared in a YouTube interview with The Hollywood Reporter that J.J. Abrams never intended to bring Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia, and Han Solo back together on screen in the Star Wars sequels—not even for a brief moment. The rest of the interview participants found this revelation amusing.
It’s true. For almost four decades, fans were denied something that would have clearly excited them – a simple and satisfying addition to the series.

Mark Hamill Confirms There Was Never a Reunion Plan
When asked about a dream co-star, Hamill said he’d always wanted to work with Harrison Ford, especially in the sequel trilogies.
Then came the dagger:
I suggested we all quickly get together for a celebratory moment, saying it would only take half a minute. But JJ responded that the focus had shifted away from Luke’s perspective.
Let that sink in.
J.J. Abrams, the director brought in to reboot the Star Wars franchise, essentially told the character Luke Skywalker that the story had moved past him.

No Excuse for Skipping the Skywalker Trio Reunion
The director built a hugely successful career on reviving old favorites with reboots and familiar stories, but surprisingly chose not to film a single scene bringing together the original stars who launched the iconic space saga.
Hamill shrugged it off with his trademark sarcasm: “Anyway, nobody listens to me.”
Fans definitely noticed what happened with the last three Star Wars films. Now, with The Mandalorian & Grogu movie coming out this May – the first Star Wars film since the previous trilogy was so poorly received – it’s obvious how much damage was done to the fanbase.

The Fallout: Star Wars Went Silent for Seven Years
Following the divisive reaction to The Last Jedi, J.J. Abrams was brought in to direct The Rise of Skywalker, but it also failed to satisfy audiences when it was released in 2019.
After a seven-year gap in theatrical releases, the world of Star Wars was kept active primarily through Disney+ series like The Mandalorian, Andor, and Ahsoka.
The newest news is that Kathleen Kennedy is leaving Lucasfilm, and Dave Filoni will be taking over. However, many believe the issues have already taken their toll.

JJ Abrams: The Legacy of a Hack
Let’s call it what it is — cinematic malpractice.
J.J. Abrams brought together Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford, and Carrie Fisher for the new Star Wars film. His main task was to deliver the long-awaited reunion of the original cast and then introduce a new generation to carry the story forward.
Instead of delivering a satisfying story, he created confusing plots, changed established details, and relied on familiar references that ultimately went nowhere. It’s remarkable how he managed to ruin something with so much potential.
Honestly, all we fans really wanted was a little bit of the old magic – Luke, Leia, and Han together again in the Millennium Falcon, sharing some banter while facing something new. That’s it! It would have been instant success and a great way to honor what came before.
What happens instead? Han Solo dies in The Force Awakens. Luke Skywalker becomes a reclusive, grumpy hermit who drinks strange alien milk, and Leia… well, she disappears mysteriously.
Mark Hamill is still amazed by it all, and the other actors found it hilarious. It’s so unbelievable, it feels like a prank.
This isn’t a laughing matter; it’s officially part of the story. It’s a huge disappointment, and many believe J.J. Abrams is severely overrated.
