Star Wars fans were delighted to see a recent photo of Jake Lloyd, the actor who played young Anakin Skywalker, spending time with Daniel Logan, another actor from the films. It’s a rare glimpse of Lloyd, who hasn’t been in the public eye for quite some time.
I saw a really sweet picture Logan posted on Instagram on January 18th. It was of him and Lloyd sitting outside a restaurant, and Logan was giving a peace sign with a huge smile. The caption was simple – he just wrote, “Just spent the day with my brother.” It was a nice little glimpse into their relationship.

Lloyd became famous for his role as young Darth Vader in the 1999 film Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace. Logan played the younger version of Boba Fett in the 2002 sequel, Star Wars: Episode II – Attack of the Clones. Even Ahmed Best, who played Jar Jar Binks in the prequels, showed his support by leaving a heart emoji on the post.
This recent sighting happened about a year after Lloyd publicly shared an update on his mental health in a rare interview. In January 2025, author Clayton Sandell published an interview where Lloyd said he was feeling “pretty good.” This came after Lloyd completed an 18-month stay at a mental health facility in Southern California.
Reports from early last year indicated that Lloyd transitioned to a new rehabilitation center after his initial hospital stay. This new facility offered him much more independence, with sources saying he was essentially free to manage his own schedule and activities – a significant improvement in his recovery.
Lloyd’s mother, Lisa, has openly discussed her son’s health to help people understand his condition and reduce the shame often associated with mental illness. She explained that Lloyd experiences anosognosia, which means his brain doesn’t recognize he’s unwell. Lisa has shared that her son, Jake, first showed symptoms of schizophrenia at age 19.
Getting better wasn’t simple, and involved a few legal troubles along the way. In May 2023, the actor was arrested for stopping his car on a busy highway. His sister, Lisa, described the incident as a sudden mental health crisis in an interview with Scripps News.
I recently spoke with Lloyd, and he was incredibly candid about his journey. He explained that, looking back, he really had to hit rock bottom before he could fully commit to getting better. He told Sandell that facing his lowest point was crucial – it forced him to truly engage with therapy, consistently take his medication, and ultimately, accept his diagnosis. And honestly, you can see the difference that acceptance has made; he seems genuinely stable and at peace now.
Although he doesn’t usually attend fan conventions, Lloyd shared that connecting with fans is instantly uplifting for him. He expressed sincere thanks for the ongoing support of the Star Wars community, saying he truly appreciates the time and effort fans have dedicated to him and his work.
During an interview a year ago, Lloyd’s mother shared how relieved she was to see his progress. She said he was improving significantly, adding, “It’s a huge relief for me and our family. We’re so happy with how well he’s doing and how much effort he’s putting in.”
I remember when Jake Lloyd stepped away from acting back in 2001, not long after being in the Star Wars movies. Playing young Anakin Skywalker made him super famous – he was one of the most recognizable kids around at the start of the new millennium! The movie The Phantom Menace was all about these Jedi who found this young slave boy and thought he was the ‘Chosen One,’ destined for something amazing.
The film featured major stars like Liam Neeson, playing Qui-Gon Jinn, and Ewan McGregor as Obi-Wan Kenobi. Natalie Portman played Queen Padmé Amidala, a role she’d return to in the following Star Wars films. Though Jake Lloyd didn’t continue acting, Anakin Skywalker remained a key character throughout the prequel trilogy.
Before becoming known for his role in the Star Wars universe, Lloyd appeared in the beloved holiday comedy Jingle All the Way. In the 1996 film, he played Arnold Schwarzenegger’s son. The movie centers around a father’s desperate search for the incredibly popular Turbo Man toy before Christmas, as it’s completely sold out.
I’ve always been so impressed with Daniel Logan! He’s stayed really connected with Star Wars fans over the years, which is awesome. A lot of us grew up with him as the voice of Boba Fett in The Clone Wars, and he’s always so great meeting people at conventions. It’s clear he really appreciates the fans!
Disney+ is constantly adding to the world of Star Wars with new shows and films. Recently, they’ve brought back actors from the earlier prequel movies, like Hayden Christensen and Ewan McGregor. This has created a renewed appreciation for those films and the actors who starred in them.
