‘Star Wars: Dawn of the Jedi’ Origin Film to Start Production Next Year”

As a long-time Star Wars enthusiast with years of fandom under my belt, I can hardly contain my excitement for the upcoming prequel, Star Wars: Dawn of the Jedi! With James Mangold at the helm, who has demonstrated his knack for storytelling in films like Logan and The Wolverine, this film promises to be a masterpiece.

Filming for “Star Wars: Dawn of the Jedi” is about to start. This upcoming prequel, which takes place earlier in the timeline than any other film in the series, will be helmed by James Mangold, who collaborated on the script with Beau Willimon, a well-known screenwriter from shows like “Andor” and “House of Cards”.

Scott Mangold has been recognized with two Academy Award nominations: one for his screenwriting work on “Logan” (2017), and another as a producer for the Best Picture-nominated film, “Ford v. Ferrari.” Noteworthy among his other projects are “The Wolverine” and “Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny.

As per reports from Empire (through World of Reel and ScreenRant), Mangold hinted in an interview about his Bob Dylan biopic, titled “A Complete Unknown“, featuring Timothée Chalamet, that upon completion of this project, which is already generating Oscar buzz, he will commence filming “Dawn of the Jedi“. Filming for this project might start as late as 2025.

The space epic, titled Star Wars: Dawn of the Jedi, is set a whopping 25,000 years prior to A New Hope, diving deep into the ancient roots of the mystical power known as the Force.

Since the release of “The Rise of Skywalker” in 2019, Lucasfilm and Kathleen Kennedy haven’t put out a new Star Wars film yet. The Rey movie that Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy was planning is currently on hold, so the studio has been focusing more on the success of the Disney+ series “The Mandalorian”. Consequently, they are now working on a Mandalorian & Grogu movie directed by Jon Favreau, which is scheduled to hit theaters on May 22, 2026.

It seems that Mangold’s “Dawn of the Jedi” might be the upcoming significant project following the “Mandalorian” movie. Nevertheless, six other “Star Wars” productions are currently in the works, featuring directors such as Obaid-Chinoy, Dave Filoni, Jon Favreau, Donald Glover, Shawn Levy, and Patty Jenkins. These projects aren’t anticipated to begin production until Mangold completes his film next year.
