As we’ve been reporting for some time, actress Claudia Black (known for roles in Farscape and Stargate) has confirmed she won’t be back for Season 2 of Ahsoka. She says Disney wouldn’t meet her financial needs as a single mother in Los Angeles, especially with the show filming in London.
Alexandre Black, who portrayed Klothow, explained that Disney’s recent organizational changes prevented the project from moving forward. This led to her departure, even though Lucasfilm had already confirmed her return for the second season.
She called it “very sad,” adding that she emailed Dave Filoni to thank him for the opportunity.

Another Sign Disney Is Cutting Costs Across the Board
Black’s statements confirm earlier reports that Disney has significantly cut budgets for both Lucasfilm and Marvel.
Recent Marvel shows like Daredevil: Born Again, Agatha, and Echo all appeared to be made with significantly reduced budgets.
Disney CEO Bob Iger has acknowledged the company spent too much money in recent years and is now undergoing changes. One result of this restructuring is that some talented individuals are leaving because Disney isn’t able to meet their financial expectations.
Disney didn’t offer the necessary financial support for Black, a single mother, to move for the job, making it impossible for her to accept the role.

Black Praises Filoni and the Star Wars Universe
Despite her disappointment with how things turned out, Sharon Black spoke fondly of her experience on Ahsoka. In an interview with Bleeding Cool, she praised working with Dave Filoni, the cast, and the directors, calling it “extraordinary.” She also described the Star Wars set as a really enjoyable and creative environment. Importantly, she shared that it meant a lot to her that her son, a big fan of The Clone Wars, was able to connect with her work on the show.
She explained that the entertainment industry is mostly about practical business decisions, with the glamorous side being a smaller part. She also noted that studios are currently facing financial pressures, making it hard to invest in projects without cutting costs elsewhere.

Disney’s Budget Problems Strike Again
Black’s exit now becomes another public example of how far Disney’s cutbacks have gone.
When a well-known actress is forced to leave a project due to insufficient pay from Disney, especially while she’s raising a family, it makes you wonder how many other people working on these shows and movies will quit. This could lead to even bigger issues for these popular franchises.
This situation also makes people worry that Disney doesn’t think it’s worth continuing to fund these shows, as they haven’t attracted a large viewership either on traditional platforms or on Disney+. Many believe the previous creative teams are responsible for the shows’ lack of success and the resulting disappointment among fans.
