I’m part of the generation you might recall, and I vividly remember celebrating the 20th anniversary of the original Star Wars trilogy. At that time, I was 13 years old and couldn’t contain my excitement for the re-release of the Special Editions of A New Hope, The Empire Strikes Back, and Return of the Jedi in theaters. Unbeknownst to us who had grown up with VHS releases, we were never going to see the original theatrical versions again, but that didn’t matter much back then. Now, almost 30 years later, for the FIFTIETH anniversary, A New Hope will grace our cinemas once more.
Lucasfilm’s friendly team is inviting everyone to mark their calendars with this news. The year 2027 marks the 50th anniversary of the franchise, so the screening will take place in that year. Starting from April 30, 2027, it will continue through May 4th, which is famously known as “Star Wars Day.” This event will be just one among many celebrations planned for 2027. One can only speculate if there might be additional screenings or perhaps some announcements about new movies. The imagination runs wild like the Boonta Eve races!
