As a gamer with a deep affection for sci-fi and a collector of rare Blu-ray editions, I can hardly contain my excitement about the upcoming release of the 4K Blu-ray Steelbook edition of “Star Trek: The Motion Picture”. Forty-five years have passed since this cinematic masterpiece first graced our screens, and it’s still going strong.
This year marks the 45th anniversary of Star Trek: The Motion Picture, and Paramount Home Entertainment is commemorating this milestone by releasing a Limited Edition 4K Blu-ray Steelbook version of director Robert Wise’s film. This new 4K Blu-ray Steelbook will contain the same content as the Director’s Edition, which has been discontinued, and the collector’s set called “The Complete Adventure” that was released in 2022. The Steelbook package includes an exclusive booklet with photos and information from behind-the-scenes of the movie, and its cover showcases the original poster artwork from the film
Star Trek: The Motion Picture, back in its day, was an extravagantly produced film with a notoriously challenging production process. The visual effects required such meticulous work that they were completed mere days before the movie’s debut! Initially, both audience and critic responses were somewhat divided, but it ignited a feature film series that persists till now.
