The latest trailer for Spider-Man: Brand New Day might have revealed Sadie Sink’s character for the first time, and viewers are speculating that she could be playing Jean Grey.
The trailer doesn’t give a clear look at the actress’s face, but several scenes suggest she’ll play a key role in a story about experiments and escaping, and it hints at a larger connection to Bruce Banner and the Hulk.
Note: Spoilers may follow.

Trailer Includes Three Possible Sadie Sink Scenes
The trailer includes at least three scenes that appear to center around Sadie Sink’s character, according to fans.

A scene depicts a young woman tied to a chair with metal restraints on her wrists. The setting seems to be a secret room or laboratory, suggesting she might be subjected to experiments or held to suppress potentially dangerous abilities.

In one scene, the room’s walls rise, hinting at either a breakout or the emergence of some kind of force.
The third image depicts a person in a hoodie – likely the same character from earlier – standing before computers and cameras with their arms raised, as if responding to or managing something that has just occurred.

Jean Grey Rumors Keep Getting Stronger
For a while, people have been guessing that Sadie Sink will play Jean Grey, and the latest trailer is making those rumors even stronger.
As a huge Marvel fan, I’ve been thinking about that scene with the character in the chair. It really struck me as a possible way to introduce a really powerful mutant. Maybe they’re being studied, or someone’s trying to control their powers, or even using those powers for their own purposes. And that quick glimpse of them escaping? That just makes me think I’m onto something!
While it hasn’t been officially announced, the trailer strongly suggests that Sink will play a major role, and isn’t just a supporting character.

Could Jean Grey Be Tied To Savage Hulk?
A popular rumor about the movie suggests that Jean Grey’s powers will accidentally trigger Bruce Banner’s transformation into the Savage Hulk.
The rumor is getting more attention now that the trailer has revealed Mark Ruffalo’s first appearance as Banner.
If actress Emma Sink is playing Jean Grey, and her abilities somehow trigger another transformation into the Hulk, it would be a major event, impacting not only the Spider-Man: Brand New Day storyline, but the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe. Kevin Feige has stated that the introduction of mutants into the MCU will begin after Avengers: Secret Wars.

Spider-Man May Also Have New Powers
The trailer also seems to tease major changes for Spider-Man himself.
A clip seems to show Peter Parker changing into something new, leading fans to believe he’s undergoing a transformation. Many also speculate this suggests Spider-Man might naturally produce webs, rather than using artificial devices.
If that’s the case, it would significantly change Tom Holland’s Spider-Man, suggesting the Brand New Day storyline is doing more than simply adding new enemies and allies.

Marvel And Sony May Be Hiding A Bigger Reveal
Marvel and Sony are being secretive about Sink’s character, but the trailer might have revealed some clues already.
With hints like a bound chair, a strange lab, a shadowy figure, footage of Bruce Banner, and talk about Jean Grey, it’s becoming increasingly likely that the new Spider-Man movie will feature a major mutant reveal in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
The trailer may have also spoiled Daredevil: Born Again Season 2.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day hits theaters on July 31st.
