Destin Daniel Cretton, who directed Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, is directing the new Spider-Man movie, Spider-Man: Brand New Day. This marks the first Spider-Man film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe not directed by Jon Watts. The screenplay is written by Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers, who have worked on previous Spider-Man movies. The cast includes Michael Mando as the Scorpion, Tramell Tillman, Marvin Jones III as Tombstone, Liza Colón-Zayas, and Jacob Batalon reprising his role as Ned Leeds. Sadie Sink, known for Stranger Things, has a currently unknown role – fans are speculating she could be Jean Grey, Jean Grey’s daughter Rachel Summers, or perhaps Firestar. We won’t have to wait much longer to find out!
A highlight of the trailer is Spider-Man’s costume, which looks more like his classic comic book design than we’ve seen in any previous movie. While the ending of No Way Home hinted at this new look, we’re excited to see it’s carried over. The official website for Spider-Man: Brand New Day is now online, and promises more information will be released as the July 31st release date approaches.
