It’s worth mentioning that Bob Persichetti and Justin K. Thompson were onboard with the franchise right from the debut of Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse in 2018.
In the original film, Persichetti was one of the three directors; however, for the 2023 sequel, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, he assumed the role of executive producer.
During this time, Justin K. Thompson served as the production designer on the initial movie, and subsequently became part of the three director team for Across the Spider-Verse.
The other two directors for the 2023 film were Joaquim Dos Santos and Kemp Powers.
In a statement, both Persichetti and Thompson conveyed their sense of gratitude for being involved in Miles Morales’ journey since its inception, and guiding the culmination of his narrative is an exhilarating prospect.
In addition, they emphasized that the thoughtfulness and imagination put into the character and the overall project is both captivating and motivational.
The directors additionally shared that they’ve crafted the ending of the animated Spider-Man series in a manner that promises a highly fulfilling viewing experience. “We can hardly wait for fans to savor it. We’re pouring all our skills into this,” their commentary concluded.
In Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, viewers were introduced to Miles Morales and the concept that “anyone could take on the role.
Speaking in terms of earnings and awards, the 2018 release amassed approximately $384 million at the global box office and was honored with an Oscar for Best Animated Feature. In contrast, the sequel, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, has earned over $690 million worldwide.
Initially scheduled for a 2024 release, the movie “Beyond the Spider-Verse” has been pushed back to a yet undisclosed future date.
