On January 27, 2025, Space Engineers 2, a follow-up to the initial space survival game by Keen Software House, will become available for Early Access on Steam. The upcoming title promises an enriched gaming experience through the addition of novel features and refinements.
The game now uses the advanced VRAGE3 engine, making it easier to create, destroy, and improve graphics for a more captivating space exploration journey. Notably, it incorporates the Unified Grid System, facilitating effortless construction with fine-tuned controls, significantly enhancing the building process.
In this game, players will find themselves immersed in a complete storyline within the Almagest system, where they’ll encounter AI-controlled ships, tasks, and secrets to unearth. The game offers improved handling and navigation with features like blueprint construction, Grid Undo, and advanced control for precise rotation and zoom. Characters can now move at speeds of up to 310 m/s, and grids can reach 300 m/s. To make exploration more efficient and safe, the game includes magboots and automatic jetpack activation.
The user interface has been revamped to make construction easier for beginners and seasoned users alike. The VRAGE3 engine will provide enhanced performance, enabling bigger spaceships and intricate builds as we approach the full release.
