As a fan who has been on this cinematic rollercoaster for years, I can’t help but feel utterly elated and star-struck by Sophie Wilde‘s journey! From being a die-hard admirer of Nicole Kidman since Moulin Rouge, to now sharing the same screen space – it’s a dream come true that has me pinching myself every morning.
In 2022, Sophie Wilde landed a significant role, playing Mia in the widely appreciated horror movie titled “Talk To Me.” Following this breakthrough performance, she garnered positive feedback from both viewers and critics. Subsequently, Wilde shared insights about her characters in the bustling world of Hollywood cinema.
Additionally, she touched upon her recent award nominations and her forthcoming film with Nicole Kidman, whom she referred to as the “monarch.”
As a passionate admirer, I can’t help but openly express my deep-seated fandom for the extraordinary talent that is Nicole Kidman, particularly her role in Big Little Lies. To be quite honest, Moulin Rouge has been a captivating spectacle in my life, and I must confess, I’ve watched it numerous times. Much like Wilde herself confessed, there’s an unspoken fear in me about telling her this, for fear that it might not live up to the impact she’s had on me. On a different note, I can’t help but reflect on my own journey in the industry, specifically my BAFTA nominations under the Rising Star category.
In a remarkable turn of events, Wilde found herself alongside Jacob Elordi, Ayo Edebiri, Phoebe Dynevor, and Mia McKenna Bruce within the same nomination bracket. Expressing a sense of disbelief, Wilde described it as an extraordinary moment, stating that she felt incredibly privileged to be vying for the award alongside actors she’s admired for years.
During a subsequent interview with the media outlet, the actress reminisced about her time on Talk To Me. She expressed, “To be honest, we all believed that the movie was fantastic, and maybe it would resonate in Australia, but who knows if it would gain traction beyond our borders?”
After the movie’s premiere, the actress became widely recognized for her terrifying shrieks. Yet, Wilde doesn’t take offense to being referred to as the “Scream Queen.”
She expressed her enthusiasm, saying, “I find the concept of becoming a ‘shriek’ actress quite appealing.” She also mentioned, “It’s an awesome nickname! There are many fantastic ‘shriek’ actresses to look up to.”
Following her work on one of the most terrifying films, Wilde is eager to explore comedy, romance, and other genres next. She mentioned, “In truth, it’s all about my current mood. If I’ve recently finished a horror film, I yearn for a comedy to dwell in a brighter atmosphere temporarily. It’s simply about where I’m at in my life right now.”
Talk To Me was released on July 27, 2022, and is available to stream on Prime Video.
