Sophie Turner Suits Up as Lara Croft In First Look At Amazon’s Tomb Raider Series

Production is now underway on the new live-action Tomb Raider series, and Amazon MGM Studios has shared the first image of Sophie Turner in her role as Lara Croft.

“Get your artifacts out. She’s on her way.”

Amazon revealed the first look at Sophie Turner as Lara Croft on Thursday, January 15th. The images showed her fully costumed with iconic gear like thigh holsters, fingerless gloves, a tactical harness, and her signature red glasses.

Production Officially Underway

As a huge cinema fan, I’m really excited to hear they’re making a live-action Tomb Raider series! What’s even better is that Phoebe Waller-Bridge – the brilliant mind behind Fleabag – is heading things up. She’s not just writing and creating the show, but she’s also an executive producer and co-showrunner with Chad Hodge. It sounds like it’s in incredibly talented hands!

Jonathan Van Tulleken is directing and executive producing.

Full Cast Revealed

Sigourney Weaver will play Evelyn Wallis and Jason Isaacs will play Atlas DeMornay, both as new, significant characters joining the cast alongside Turner.

The film features a strong supporting cast, including Martin Bobb-Semple as Zip, Jack Bannon as Gerry, John Heffernan as David, Bill Paterson as Winston, Paterson Joseph, Sasha Luss, Juliette Motamed, Celia Imrie as Francine, and August Wittgenstein.

Legacy of Lara

The new Prime Video series is inspired by the popular Tomb Raider video game series, which has been reimagined several times over the years with the iconic Lara Croft. This is Lara Croft’s first live-action appearance since the 2018 film starring Alicia Vikander.

Netflix just finished releasing its animated series, Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft, featuring Hayley Atwell as the voice of Lara Croft.

Amazon MGM Studios, along with Crystal Dynamics, Story Kitchen, Legendary Television, and Wells Street Films, are the production companies behind the live-action series.
