I’m so excited about Sophie Turner taking on the role of Lara Croft in the new Tomb Raider series on Prime Video! I was really intrigued when they announced the cast, which includes the amazing Sigourney Weaver. But what really blew my mind was hearing Sophie talk about it on The Julia Cunningham Show. She said the scripts for Tomb Raider are kept under even more lock and key than the Game of Thrones scripts! Can you believe that? It just shows how seriously they’re taking this project, and honestly, it makes me even more eager to see it.
The security around the scripts is incredibly tight – even more so than it was for Game of Thrones, she said. It’s really intense. To get access, it’s like the process for the ‘Steal’ materials, but multiplied by ten. There are countless logins and layers of facial recognition technology.
Using facial recognition to control access to scripts sounds strange, but with so many leaks spoiling movies and shows for fans, it’s starting to feel like a necessary precaution.
Sophie Turner Has Trained Intensely for a YEAR for Her Tomb Raider Series
Turner explained that she’s been training to play Lara Croft for eight hours a day, five days a week, since February 2025.
Turner shared that he’s been dealing with a long-term back issue. He also discovered that having some prior workout experience makes building muscle much easier – something he didn’t have before. As a result, it’s taken him many months to get in shape. That’s been his biggest takeaway.
It’s satisfying to see Sophie Turner play a character with physical strength after portraying Sansa Stark, who wasn’t known for fighting. Unlike many characters on Game of Thrones, Sansa’s story focused on other strengths. We’re excited to see Turner as Lara Croft in Tomb Raider, and we hope the plot remains a secret thanks to the secure scripts.
