Soon PS4 games will not be offered monthly on PlayStation Plus

Sony recently shared some significant news about their PlayStation Plus service. They mentioned that a majority of their gamers are now using PS5 consoles and playing on them at present. Consequently, more players utilizing PlayStation Plus have claimed PlayStation 5 titles instead of the monthly PlayStation 4 options. Given this shift towards PS5 games among players, Sony plans to adapt accordingly. Beginning in 2026, Sony will no longer provide PlayStation 4 games as part of the monthly benefits for PlayStation Plus subscribers.

This implies that they won’t discontinue providing free PlayStation 4 games altogether, but rather they’ll offer them sporadically in 2026. So, you might encounter a free game now and then, but it won’t be as frequent as the monthly offers you’ve grown accustomed to.

Sony has given us more positive news – your downloaded PS4 games obtained through their service won’t be impacted by this update, and you can continue playing them from the Game Catalog unless Sony decides to take them down occasionally.

Sony’s decision here aligns perfectly with logic. We’re nearing the end of the PlayStation 5 generation. If you haven’t switched to a PlayStation 5 yet, it’s likely that you won’t in the future.

Apart from the recent news about PlayStation Plus, Sony has also unveiled their anticipated lineup of games for February 2025. The list includes Payday 3 (for PS5), High on Life (available on both PS4 and PS5), and Pac-Man World Re-Pac (also on both consoles). You’ll be able to download these February releases from February 4 until March 3.

Should any of the free games from the February collection catch your eye, feel free to download them and have a go. These games are available for download at no cost, thanks to the PlayStation Plus service.
