Sony’s Decision to Include Knull in ‘Venom: The Last Dance’ Could Be One of Marvel’s Biggest Missteps

As a gamer with over two decades of comic book-inspired video game experiences under my belt, I must admit that the announcement of Knull in ‘Venom: The Last Dance’ has left me a tad skeptical. Don’t get me wrong; I’ve seen Sony pull off some impressive feats with their Marvel properties, but the recent track record has been, well, a rollercoaster ride to say the least.

Approaching the last installment of ‘Venom: The Last Dance,’ set to hit screens within a month, the series has been subtly teasing numerous surprises through various trailers. Today’s fresh release unveiled one such surprise – the arrival of the main antagonist, Knull, also known as the King in Black.

Typically, such news would be exhilarating. But considering Sony’s past dealings with Marvel characters, there is indeed much cause for apprehension.

Initial responses to Knull have been varied, as fans express concern about potential mismanagement by Sony. In ‘Venom: The Last Dance’, the storyline revolves around a global threat posed by Symbiotes escaping from their maker, Knull – the deity of Symbiotes.

Eddie and Venom must take on this incredibly powerful adversary one more time, but keep in mind that Knull is no ordinary villain from Marvel Comics. With powers so immense, he can go toe-to-toe with some of the most fearsome beings in the universe. It’s challenging to imagine a single Symbiote or even a group could possibly overcome him.

In the Venom series, Knull hasn’t been adequately introduced or developed, despite the hive being mentioned. This could pose a challenge for fans unversed in the comics to fully appreciate his menace. To truly flesh out Knull’s character and lead to an epic confrontation with Venom, it would be ideal for him to star in a standalone film. Many viewers express a desire to see him in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), where he could become a pivotal figure in a grand Avengers-scale storyline. Since none of the current characters in Sony’s Spider-Man universe appear capable of overpowering Knull, his inclusion in the MCU seems particularly appealing.

Though things may seem grim now, there’s a glimmer of optimism. Whispers point towards Knull making an appearance in upcoming projects, implying that this character might not meet the same fate as Gorr did in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). This hint could also suggest that Eddie’s journey might come to an end in the concluding chapter, paving the way for Venom to potentially join forces with the MCU.
