Last year, Sonic the Hedgehog and the Justice League joined forces and became friends. They even teamed up to defeat the powerful villain Darkseid in their first comic series together. Now, DC Comics is announcing a new five-issue series, DC x Sonic the Hedgehog: Metal Legion, arriving in May, with the same creative team – Ian Flynn and Adam Bryce Thomas. This time, they’ll be facing a massive army of metal foes! Check out the covers for the new series below.

And here’s the official synopsis from DC Comics for DC x Sonic the Hedgehog: Metal Legion:
Strange, mechanical rings have suddenly connected two different worlds, bringing with them both amazing and troubling events. While the heroes are glad to be together again, they don’t realize there’s a dark reason why they’ve been brought together.
Is this new Metal Legion connected to DC’s infamous Legion of Doom? Given DC also has a team of heroes called the Legion of Super-Heroes, perhaps they’ll appear to help out. Ultimately, fans are hoping to see another race between Sonic and the Flash. Writer Ian Flynn shared his excitement about this sequel, saying he loved working on the first crossover and is glad the story thread from the ending is being continued. He hopes readers enjoy this new series as much as he enjoyed writing it!
The first issue of DC x Sonic the Hedgehog: Metal Legion will be released on May 5, 2026. It’s a 32-page comic book with a main cover by Pablo M. Collar, and variant covers by Adam Bryce Thomas, Serg Acuña, and Min Ho Kim. The standard edition will cost $3.99, while a card stock variant will be available for $4.99.
