As a seasoned gamer with years of experience under my belt, I’ve faced my fair share of challenging bosses like Katya Frostcap. Her exosuit, which I used back in the day when I was still a mercenary, gives her an edge in mobility and performance on special ops. But don’t let that intimidate you – with the right strategy, she’s manageable.
A mercenary like Katya once utilized an exosuit boasting superior mobility and enhancing operational effectiveness during covert missions.
Katya Frostcap represents the chilly adaptation of the common Katya boss character. Unique to Neural Sim in the entirety of the game, she may be recognized primarily by players who have encountered the standard Katya in combat situations.

Attacks and Behaviour
Just like her regular self, Katya Frostcap will frequently transport herself across the map and gain an invincibility shield during teleportation.
As a seasoned gamer, I’d describe it like this: Following my teleportation, I’ll unleash a massive arrow towards you. Getting hit by it will result in being momentarily frozen. However, the arrow moves at a manageable pace, so as long as you keep moving and don’t get caught standing still, you should have no problem dodging it.
Burst Shot
At challenging settings, Katya discharges multiple volleys of arrows in your direction as she sidesteps gradually. Each salvo comprises two additional projectiles for heightened complexity. Keeping a safe distance from her is generally manageable by dodging to the sides where the arrows aren’t flying. Since her pattern of movement during this assault is quite consistent, use it to your advantage and counterattack accordingly.
Crouch Shot
In simpler terms, instead of Katya standing up to rapidly shoot a series of arrows, now she remains stationary while releasing a continuous flow of arrows. This modification benefits you as it presents a still target for accurate shooting. At increased levels of challenge, this attack inflicts greater damage and endures longer, expanding the opportunity for higher DPS (Damage Per Second) by making Katya’s arrows harder to evade, just as in her burst shot attack.
In contrast to her typical behavior, Katya Frostcap frequently executes that attack instead of scarcely doing so. It’s a relief.
Jump Shot
Katya becomes unharmed and leaps up, launching an explosive arrow in your direction. This attack is similar to her standard form’s move, but being hit by the arrow will cause you to be immobile for a duration. At increased levels of challenge, Katya will discharge three arrows instead, though evading this is unlikely due to its rapid succession. Mastering the dodge at the right moment is essential to avoid being frozen, or consider restarting your attempt if pursuing an optimal completion time.
Shield Trigger
When Katya’s health point shield is shattered, she becomes unreachably resilient and vanishes in the midst of the battlefield. In her place, a hail of arrows, initially originating from her hidden location, expands and showers the surroundings.
When Katya appears in the center of the map, her invincibility will momentarily disappear.
This means that if you can aim fast enough, you’ll be able to sneak in some extra damage.
Arrow Rain
This attack is only available once Katya’s shield is depleted.
As a gamer, I can describe the situation like this: When Katya vanishes from the game map, I brace myself as a hail of arrows rains down on me. At increased levels of challenge, an additional pair of arrow showers appears on my left and right. However, dodging just once allows me to evade the danger effortlessly.
As a gamer, I find it truly frustrating when an enemy like Katya has the ability to make me wait around before resuming combat. This forced idleness acts as a potential pitfall for those aiming for record-breaking completion times.
Strategy
As a fan of the game, I’d describe Frostcap Katya as a more straightforward version compared to the original one. She no longer darts around the map unpredictably, which makes it easier to follow her movements. However, she poses a greater threat with increased damage output and reduced invincibility. This results in faster encounters where you can take her down quickly, but also puts you at risk of being taken out by her arrows. Keep your guard up and avoid getting hit by too many arrows, and you’ll find the experience less stressful than dealing with Katya’s random moveset.
In simpler terms, at easier levels, you can stun Katya frequently, making the gameplay smoother for you. However, as the level of difficulty increases, she becomes less susceptible to being stunned, so relying heavily on this tactic may not be effective.
Team Building
If the resistance chart didn’t make it clear, introducing a Frost DPS character to this battle isn’t recommended. Unfortunately, this means that Katya, who can be played, becomes an unfavorable choice for this particular encounter.
Regarding the DPS units you might consider for facing Katya, it’s important to note that she has a rather small health pool, a significant portion of which is her starting HP shield. Consequently, gun-wielding DPS operatives like Yao – Winter Solstice, who can deal high damage quickly, will be effective in this situation. However, it would be remiss not to highlight the favorable matchups against Marian – Swift and Lyfe – Infinite Sight. Both of these operatives specialize in dealing Kinetic damage, enabling them to exploit Katya’s one elemental weakness. Additionally, they possess mechanisms for targeting and locking onto Katya, making it easier to deal with her mobility. Furthermore, Marian and Lyfe have high burst potential, an essential trait for wrapping up the fight efficiently and with minimal effort.
Slowing down Katya is advised, as this not only makes her movements and attacks slower, but also decreases the velocity of her projectiles. Consequently, her damage potential lessens significantly, creating ample opportunities for you to eliminate her. Acacia – Redacted continues to be the preferred choice because of its simplicity. Although stuns can produce comparable results, the current roster of stun providers disappoints in terms of reach.
Any offensive support is effective against Katya. Among these options, Mauxir – Shadow Ka provides the additional benefit of resetting Katya’s attacks to prevent her invulnerability and prematurely end encounters where she performs such attacks. Given Katya’s substantial damage output, it may be prudent for novice players to include a healer in their party to ensure they stay healthy during battles.
