As a lifelong fan of Snoop Dogg and an ardent follower of sports, I must say that this year’s Olympics have been truly unforgettable. Watching Snoop Dogg, a global icon and my hometown hero, gracing the Olympic stage has been nothing short of surreal.
At the current 2024 Summer Olympics, Snoop Dogg is still causing a stir. Lately, he extended his congratulations to the winners of the Women’s 200-Meter Race, an esteemed competition that encourages sportsmanship and physical prowess.
Having attended numerous high-profile events throughout my career as a sports journalist, I must admit that witnessing the hip-hop artist light the Olympic torch this year was undoubtedly one of the most unexpected and exhilarating experiences I’ve ever had. As a longtime fan of both music and sports, I couldn’t help but feel a surge of admiration for the artist when he approached the three esteemed track and field champions during the closing ceremony. The video capturing their interaction was a perfect snapshot of an unforgettable moment in sports history – one that showcased the power of art, athleticism, and unity all in one frame.
On Team USA Track and Field’s social media platform, a video was posted, capturing the athletes, beaming with joy, engaging in conversation with a record producer.
On Facebook, the official USA Track & Field account posted a video, titled, “Snoop Dogg congratulates the 200-meter Olympic medalists.”
As an over-the-moon fanboy, I’ve got to share this exhilarating moment: I heard Snoop Dogg himself praising the champions on a call, exclaiming “Great job, ladies! Great job!” The video I saw on Facebook showcased three incredible athletes. Gabby Thomas, a golden girl for Team USA, took home the gold. Julien Alfred, representing Saint Lucia with pride, brought home the silver. Last but not least, Brittany Brown, another US hero, won the bronze medal. What an inspiring display of talent and determination!
Later in the broadcast, bronze medalist Brown can be found enthusiastically chatting with Snoop Dogg. In their conversation, Brown reveals that she hails from Pomona, California – a city that Snoop Dogg calls home.
“To Snoop Dogg, it’s clear you’re connected to Pomona, as Karrueche Tran points out multiple times, since she hails from there,” (or)
Responding to her, Snoop Dogg expressed his pride in Brown and the entire team after their victory.
During the 2024 Summer Olympics, Snoop Dogg was spotted joining in the festivities for Martha Stewart’s 83rd birthday at the equestrian team dressage competition. Both of them were dressed alike, sporting similar riding helmets, jackets, and sunglasses that complemented each other on August 3.
In my latest conversation with my long-standing friend, Snoop Dogg, he extended an invitation for me to attend a stunning equestrian event specializing in dressage. With over two decades of camaraderie behind us, I’m thrilled to be partaking in this unique horse-riding spectacle alongside him.
In addition, Snoop Dogg also had a guided tour of the Louvre, which was showcased on the official NBC Olympics & Paralympics TikTok account. Notably, he was filmed jokingly dancing with an Olympic torch in the streets of Paris.
