At the 2026 Golden Globes on January 11th, Snoop Dogg briefly had his live presentation censored during the broadcast. He was on stage to present the very first award for Best Podcast, bringing his usual lively style to the event.
As one person left the stage, Snoop Dogg was introduced with a blast from the past – his 2004 hit, “Drop It Like It’s Hot.” He quickly took the microphone and playfully told the audience, “Hold up, let’s relax a little! This is the Golden Globes, and you’re with Snoop Dogg – the D-O-double-G. So let loose and have some fun, don’t be so stiff!”
Snoop Dogg then discussed how important the new podcast category is. He joked, “Before podcasts, I was the thing you all listened to in your cars. Podcasters, you’d better hope I don’t start making podcasts myself!” He went on to thank the Golden Globes for including podcasts in the awards show and praised all the podcasters, adding, “You’re all winners, but the real winner is…”
During the live broadcast, Snoop Dogg said something that was censored. Entertainment Weekly, who were covering the event, reported that he exclaimed, “I’m really high right now. You all kept me waiting too long!”

Snoop Dogg then revealed that Amy Poehler had won for her podcast, Good Hang. Later, Teyana Taylor was briefly cut off during her acceptance speech for One Battle After Another after exclaiming, “Oh my God, this is heavy!”
Snoop Dogg continues to make music, and in 2024 he released a new album called Missionary. The album was entirely produced by Dr. Dre and is considered a spiritual successor to Snoop’s first album, Doggystyle. It features collaborations with major artists like Eminem, 50 Cent, Method Man, and Sting. Critics have praised both Snoop’s rapping and Dr. Dre’s production on the album.
As a longtime fan, I’ve always been amazed by Snoop Dogg’s staying power. It was a cool surprise when he dropped Iz It a Crime? in May 2025, and it’s no shock he’s still considered a major influence – Time Magazine even put him on their list of the world’s most influential people back in April 2025! Of course, cannabis has been a huge part of his persona since the beginning. He did say he was quitting back in 2002, but he’s always been pretty open about enjoying it over the years. More recently, in 2023, he playfully hinted at stopping again, but it turned out to be a clever way to promote a smokeless fire pit. He really knows how to keep things interesting!
Snoop Dogg’s quick run-in with censorship at the Golden Globes showed off his famously honest style and the difficulties of broadcasting live. His appearance also reminded everyone why he’s still a major icon in music and popular culture.
