Snoop Dogg Apparently Did Not Apologize for his “Homophobic” ‘Lightyear’ Comments – It’s Fake

Critics are heavily criticizing Snoop Dogg due to his remarks concerning LGBTQ+ characters in the movie “Lightyear” by Pixar.

On the “It’s Giving” podcast, the rapper expressed discomfort after watching the 2022 film with his grandson, as the movie features a character named Alisha, voiced by Uzo Aduba, who is portrayed as having a spouse and child.

Snoop clarified that the scene posed questions to him from his grandson which he found hard to respond. Essentially, his grandson wondered aloud, “Grandpa Snoop, if she had a baby, then who’s the father if both are women? That doesn’t make sense!

Snoop expressed surprise and discomfort when caught off guard, saying something along the lines of: ‘Wow, I didn’t expect this. All I wanted was to enjoy the movie.’

They mentioned that two women had a baby. This confuses me because I thought only one person could give birth. It’s unsettling and makes me hesitant to go out, like to the movies. It seems I’m being put in situations where I don’t have the answers.

The hip-hop artist expressed his viewpoint as well, stating that such narratives might be inappropriate for young audiences because they could generate confusing questions and he doesn’t possess the solutions at this stage.

Following criticism of his statements, Snoop Dogg seemed to issue an apology online. In the comments section of a Hollywood Unlocked video, he wrote: “My dear gay friends, you understand the situation, and you’ve been reaching out with love. I apologize for not knowing the right answers for a 6-year-old. Help me learn. I’m not perfect.

It’s been claimed by Deadline that the apology wasn’t genuine. However, sources close to Snoop indicate that neither he nor his team composed the statement, implying that it was a fake apology, despite originating from his verified account.

In the course of events, screenwriter Lauren Gunderson, who played a significant role in crafting Alisha’s story for the movie ‘Lightyear’, publicly defended the inclusion of a same-sex couple in the film on Instagram. In her post, she declared proudly, “I wrote the lesbian characters in Lightyear.

In 2018, while working at Pixar, she proposed adding a wife for the character Alisha, as it seemed authentic and fitting. As she put it, ‘A tiny detail in the movie, but one with a powerful impact. A small line, a significant change. I was thrilled they included it.’ She proudly shared, ‘I’m pleased with it. To infinity. Love is love.’

She noted that although the movie incorporates science fiction aspects such as aliens and space exploration, it authentically portrays the existence of genuine love between individuals of the queer community.
