SNL Apologizes to The White Lotus Star Amy Lou Wood After Actor Blasts Them For Making Fun of Her Appearance

Aimee Lou Wood received an apology from Saturday Night Live following her criticism about the show mocking her looks. In response to a recent sketch she found disrespectful and not funny, The White Lotus actress voiced her opinion and later announced that SNL had contacted her with an apology.

In a comedy sketch named “The White POTUS,” SNL mimicked the upcoming season of “The White Lotel,” combining satire of the Trump family and humor directed at Kenan Thompson’s character. Sherman’s portrayal included an over-the-top depiction of buck teeth, which was particularly upsetting to Wood, who has previously been open about her discomfort with comments concerning her teeth.

On Instagram, Wood openly shared her disappointment by saying: “However, being truthful – I found the SNL sketch rather unkind and not amusing. xo” She also pointed out the inauthenticity of the impression, stating “At least make sure to get the accent correct properly, as I appreciate authenticity, even if it’s not nice.

Wood highlighted that although HBO had been gracious and considerate, SNL had overstepped a boundary. “It’s unfortunate because I truly enjoyed it a couple of weeks ago,” she continued. “Absolutely, make fun – that’s what the show is all about – but couldn’t there be a more intelligent, subtler, less crass approach?

After voicing her feelings, the alum of Sex Education found herself surrounded by a wave of support from fans. She expressed gratitude for having spoken up, rather than holding it all in.

In the last word on the matter, Wood revealed that SNL had extended an apology. Closing things down with a playful Instagram post, she stated, “I’ve received apologies from SNL,” thus resolving the uproar – at least temporarily.
