As a devoted fan, I’m excited to share some news about Slay the Spire 2. Instead of the initial speculation for its release in 2025, Mega Crit has unveiled that the game will make its grand appearance on a top-secret Thursday in March 2026! Keep your decks ready!
According to what the developers have shared, it seems like we might be seeing the Early Access release of Slay the Spire 2 on one of these four dates: March 5th, 12th, 19th, or 26th. Can’t wait to find out which one!
Mega Crit shared on Steam that unfortunately, the release date isn’t as anticipated. We had initially aimed for late 2025, but we’ve realized there are delays. The team has encountered some personal issues (rest assured, everyone is doing well), and they found themselves adding extra features more than they should have, which led to the need for additional polish to maintain our standards.
The independent studio clarified that the delay isn’t related to Hollow Knight: Silksong or distractions from other projects, but rather due to the extensive time needed to incorporate all the planned content for Slay the Spire 2. They aim to match current expectations for Early Access releases.
In the upcoming sequel to Slay the Spire, expect an array of fresh characters, an expanded collection of cards, potions, relics, events, and more, coupled with enhanced visual aesthetics, improved animations, visual effects, user-friendly improvements, groundbreaking new mechanics, and even more exciting features that we’re saving as surprises for later!
In the new updates, developers have unveiled that there’s a feature called Alternate Acts. Essentially, each act of the game has two distinct versions, and luck determines which one players encounter during each playthrough. Each version offers different settings, foes, events, and bosses, providing twice as much content as in the original game’s acts. Given that this means doubling the amount of content to be developed, it’s no wonder Mega Crit is seeking extra time for development.
