As the final episode approaches for the Star Wars series on Disney+ titled “Skeleton Crew“, it’s been consistently absent from Nielsen rating charts. Not a single episode, not even the double debut, has managed to secure a spot on these charts.
Let’s not dwell on something old, but here’s an important point: Disney+ activates Nielsen measurement within users’ profiles, and Nielsen is commonly recognized as a benchmark for ratings in our industry.
What are the ratings?
This past week, Episode 7 of Skeleton Crew ranked at the bottom on Prime Video’s charts, with Beast Games accumulating approximately 405 million minutes of view time, an increase from the previous week. Since Skeleton Crew was absent from the rankings, Episode 7 falls short of that total.
As a passionate movie enthusiast, I’d like to point out that Nielsen tracks the episodes watched during a specific weekly period. So, it seems neither I nor anyone else is indulging in a binge-watch of Skeleton Crew, and it appears we’re not gaining any new aficionados either.
For The Acolyte, it’s been verified that the show has been cancelled. However, only select episodes managed to make it onto the Nielsen charts, specifically the two-episode premiere, the third episode, and the finale episode of The Acolyte.
Disney hasn’t announced whether or not Skeleton Crew will be getting a Season 2.
What’s next for Star Wars on Disney+?
Mark your calendars, fellow Star Wars enthusiasts! On April 22, 2025, we’ll be saying goodbye to the captivating saga of Cassian Andor in Season 2 of Andor. Meanwhile, the enigmatic journey of Ahsoka continues in Season 2 – although Disney has yet to reveal any new live-action Star Wars TV shows. Interestingly, it seems that the adventures of The Mandalorian and Grogu might be taking a cinematic turn with Jon Favreau at the helm for Season 4, rebranding as The Mandalorian & Grogu movie. Stay tuned for more updates from a galaxy far, far away!
