2025 isn’t even halfway over, but I have no doubt that “Sinners” will be one of this year’s top movies. Ryan Coogler’s unique interpretation of the vampire genre seamlessly combines Black Southern culture, Hoodoo, and the examination of ancestral roots and religion’s impact on music is truly captivating on the big screen. The film continues to generate excitement among audiences and critics, further solidifying Ryan Coogler and Michael B. Jordan as one of the most dynamic creative partnerships today. Coogler designed “Sinners” for an IMAX experience, and many viewers experienced it on that massive screen. Now, “Sinners” will have a special IMAX run in nine theaters throughout North America.
Based on a recent announcement, the play titled “Sinners” is scheduled to be performed in these selected theaters from May 15th through May 21st. Given that tickets are now available for purchase, it’s advisable to grab them promptly if you wish to attend. Here’s a list of the theaters where “Sinners” will be screened using IMAX 70mm format as part of its limited re-release:
- CityWalk Stadium 19 + Imax (Los Angeles)
- Irvine Spectrum and Imax (Irvine)
- Lincoln Square 13 + Imax (New York)
- Metreon 16 + Imax (San Francisco)
- Indiana State Museum (Indianapolis)
- Arizona Mills IMAX (Phoenix)
- Autonation Imax (Ft. Lauderdale)
- Webb Chapel Imax (Dallas)
- Colossus Imax (Toronto)
According to a statement from Warner Bros. Pictures President of Global Distribution, Jeff Goldstein, “The audience’s feedback has been heard and addressed. If any movie deserves to be viewed in an immersive, grander-than-life format, it’s Sinners. The filmmaker, Ryan, has created a piece that resonates with fans who value the artistry involved in making films for such expansive screen formats. We want everyone to have the chance to witness this masterpiece – or revisit it – on 70mm IMAX.
A scarcity of cities showing it suggests that not everyone will get a chance to watch “Sinners” in IMAX for now. However, wider releases could be on the horizon. Excitedly, I’m looking forward to owning the movie once they release the physical copies. Bring on the Steelbooks and more!
