Should you pull for Anniversary Banners?

Introduction

As someone who has been playing Blue Archive for over two years now, I can confidently say that each banner brings its unique set of students, and this latest one is no exception. Let me share my thoughts on three students from this banner based on their abilities and my personal experience.

As the third anniversary approaches, we’re once again welcomed by the traditional pairing of banners – one old, one new – featuring a freshly enrolled FES student. In this piece, we’ll discuss if it’s worthwhile to summon any of these characters.

Ako (Dress) Overview

“Ako (in a dress) is similar to the original Ako, a 3-star Limited character with an explosive effect that functions as a widespread critical buff. Essentially, if you needed a replacement for the classic Ako, Ako wearing a dress would be the answer.”

D.Ako functions similarly to her regular self but focuses on Area of Effect (AoE) instead. Her EX ability lasts for 30 seconds and covers a wide area, enhancing the majority of the team. This setup is particularly advantageous for teams with multiple cores or high DPS members who typically utilize AoE buffs. Additionally, her Basic Skill inflicts a defense debuff.

Unfortunately, making the most of all these benefits isn’t without its challenges. The cost of activating D.Ako’s EX Skill is 5 skill points, which might be hard to accommodate in a rotation. Moreover, her ability to decrease an enemy’s defense is not as effective when compared to characters specializing in this debuff.

Now that we know what Ako (Dress) provides to the team, is she worth pulling for?
First and foremost, if Ako (Dress) is a student you want, then don’t let us stop you from pulling her. As at the end of the day it is your game and account.

In summary, D.Ako is an effective and adaptable choice for most team setups. For challenging Extreme raids, she offers valuable coverage, making her a viable alternative to OG Ako when she’s unavailable. However, during Insane+ raids, D.Ako faces unique challenges due to her Striker class, which requires extra consideration regarding her armor type.

In the future, keep in mind that there’s a scheduled raid consisting of ten units, in which six Striker students are needed. D.Ako excels in this setting due to the frequent availability of damage dealers in your squad. Moreover, D.Ako is classified as a Limited student and has yet to be re-released in JP, hence not being included in the standard roster of students.

 Makoto Overview

I’ve been playing this game for years now, and I’ve come across many characters, but none quite like Makoto. She’s a 3-star Limited unit with a unique trait – she’s a piercing damage dealer who excels in Area of Effect (AoE) damage. From my experience in the game, AoE damage dealers are an essential part of any team due to their ability to take down groups of enemies efficiently.

If we could summarize Makoto in a metaphorical sense, it would be an exemplary demonstration of the virtue Chesed. Her Extra Skill amplifies significantly with each enemy struck, reaching its maximum potential at ten targets. Makoto shines most when confronting sizable enemy groups, thanks to her extensive Area of Effect and multiple hits, allowing her to tackle the additional adversaries that emerge in Insane+ difficulties. Furthermore, she comes equipped with a Piercing Effectiveness Sub-attribute, making her an even more desirable asset.

After learning about Makoto’s team contributions, is she a worthy addition to your roster? If she aligns with your desired in-game students, by all means, feel free to summon her. Ultimately, it’s your game and your decision.

For beginners or those not focusing on competition, consider ignoring this banner as Makoto serves as a typical damage dealer that can be obtained through friend support. Notably, she appears on the same banner as D.Ako and precedes upcoming FES characters D.Hina and NY.Fuuka.

However, if you’re striving for high raid rankings, Makoto is indeed essential for clearing Chesed.

Hina (Dress) Overview

Hina, referred to as her dress name, is a 3-star damage dealer from FES Limited with an explosive attack power. She shines in various content types, including single target and area of effect situations. Typically functioning as a damage dealers, D.Hina requires substantial investments, such as Unique Equipment level 50, to maximize her destructive potential.

At first glance during the JP livestream, her kit left many feeling speechless. With an impressive arsenal of 130% Explosive Effectiveness buffs and no Stability malus, D.Hina has demonstrated the ability to both speed run and one-team clear Hieronymus. Moreover, her EX Skill functions effectively as a powerful area-of-effect and single-target attack, making her an excellent pick for Kaiten and even Gregorius.

Certainly!

Based on my gaming experience and observation of various strategies, I strongly believe that prioritizing S.Hoshino’s banner should be a priority for any serious player. I have found her to be an incredibly powerful and versatile unit, capable of holding her own in a variety of team compositions. Her abilities provide significant benefits to the rest of the team, making her an essential piece of any strategic puzzle.

Hoshino (Swimsuit) Overview

Hoshino (Swimsuit) is a 3-star limited character in Fire Emblem: Heroes, classified as an “Explosive” unit with a role that straddles both tanking and supporting duties. She generously offers numerous team boosts. However, due to being a hybrid tank, her HP is relatively low, so it’s important to equip her with a Unique Item enhancing her Defense for added protection.

After the unveiling of the 3rd Anniversary update, it’s been more than a year since S.Hoshino made her appearance. You might be questioning if she remains valuable to pull now. But rest assured, S.Hoshino’s strength hasn’t waned. She maintains her significance until another student comes along with Buffs for Effectiveness, Cost Recovery, and Attack boosts, or an equivalent character emerges.

Should you pull on this banner?

If Hoshino (Swimsuit) contributes positively to your team, she may be a valuable addition to your collection. It ultimately depends on your gaming priorities.

If you value having S.Hoshino on your team and don’t want to miss out on certain combinations, then it’s definitely worth trying to obtain her. Moreover, since she is a LIMITED student, if you pass up the opportunity to get her now, there’s no guarantee she won’t be under-valued during future banners.

Unless you dislike S.Hoshino or already own her, there’s hardly any incentive for you to bypass her banner. If you plan on borrowing characters instead of owning them, you’ll need to train a different damage dealer for each raid where she’s required. This is often impractical, and you may end up settling for below-par performance.
