Marriagetoxin, a well-loved manga created by Joumyaku and with artwork by Mizuki Yoda, is soon to be adapted into an anime series.
The series began appearing on Shueisha’s Shōnen Jump+ app and website in April 2022. As of August, there are currently 14 volumes available. Viz Media has obtained the rights to publish the series in English.
The anime will be produced by Bones Film, the animation studio known for popular series such as My Hero Academia: Vigilantes, and is scheduled to debut in 2026.
As a movie buff, I was so excited to finally see the series in action! They dropped a new trailer and a poster along with the official announcement, and it really gave us our first good look at what to expect. It was a great reveal, and I’ve been rewatching the trailer ever since. I’m especially intrigued by the visual style showcased in the poster – it looks fantastic!
Motonobu Hori will direct the show. Kimiko Ueno is writing the scripts, and Kohei Tokuoka will be the chief animation director. Taisei Iwasaki and Yuma Yamaguchi are composing the music. Haruki Ishiya will voice the character of Hikaru Gero, and Shion Wakayama will voice Mei Kinosaki.

Marriagetoxin tells the story of the dangerous Poison Masters from the Five Great Families. Hikaru Gero, the heir of the Gero Family, has always avoided love and marriage. But when his sister is compelled to have a child to ensure their family line continues, Hikaru is resolved to defend her, no matter what it takes.
As stated in a recent press release, “Throughout history, skilled practitioners – known as Masters – have honed dangerous and powerful techniques. The Poison Masters, belonging to the Five Great Families, are particularly renowned for their frightening abilities and widespread control.”
As a huge fan of the source material, I’m really excited about this anime! It’s going to bring the manga’s intense and thrilling world to life, blending drama, action, and a whole lot of suspense. We don’t have a firm release date just yet, but the current expectation is sometime in 2026. I’m already counting down the days!
