It’s not just rumored that Dominique Thorne is in contention to take over the role of Iron Man from Robert Downey Jr., but it’s also being reported that she could potentially step into the shoes of Chadwick Boseman as Black Panther as well.
Indeed, it’s clear by now that the role of Black Panter was given to someone else, namely Letitia Wright. Yet, she successfully secured the position of Riri Williams, who is also known as Ironheart.
Dominique Thorne Originally Auditioned for Shuri in Black Panther
Marvel unveiled a fresh behind-the-scenes documentary titled “The Creation of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever,” featuring Dominique Thorne’s audition for Shuri in the original Black Panther, who later takes on the mantle of Black Panther in the sequel.
According to a statement by former Marvel producer Nate Moore, it was Dominique who tried out for the part of Shuri in the initial film. This information came to light after Moore’s departure from Marvel, which some believe was due to the underperformance of “Captain America: Brave New World” and “Eternals.” Interestingly, Moore reportedly refused to bring on board Marvel creatives who were avid comic book readers.
Moore added, “We truly admired her and believed she was incredibly intelligent. She exuded charisma and had a great sense of humor, along with a bold spirit. When it came time to include Riri Williams in Wakanda Forever, she was the top of our list and the only name we needed to consider.

Ironheart Features Drag Queen, Chicago Plot, and Backing from MCU Stars
The Marvel series, “Ironheart,” presents the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s inaugural drag queen character, with a narrative centered around gangsters transforming into advocates within the city of Chicago.
Additionally, the series has been endorsed officially by Robert Downey Jr., Ryan Coogler, Charlie Cox, and Vincent D’Onofrio.
Ironheart premieres on Disney+ on June 24 with its first three episodes.
