When a fresh Pokémon game is unveiled, the most sought-after information is usually about the new Pokémon that will be featured in the game. The release of Pokémon Scarlet and Violet sparked enormous curiosity as players eagerly anticipated meeting Fidough, Pawmi, Lechonk, Smoliv, and others. However, it appears that no new Pokémon are expected to debut in the upcoming Pokémon Legends: Z-A game at this time.
Will There Be Any New Pokémon in Pokémon Legends: Z-A?
Typically, at this point in time, we’d have already caught a glimpse of some fresh Pokémon from the upcoming Pokémon game, but there’s been an eerie silence regarding Pokémon Legends: Z-A. Surprisingly, only six Pokémon are mentioned on its official site: the starters (Chikorita, Tepig, and Totodile) as well as Zygarde in its 10%, 50%, and Complete forms. However, we’ve seen more than these in trailers and other promotional materials.
Z-A isn’t classified as a “primary” game in the series, but rather a “side story” or spinoff game. Spinoffs are less likely to present fresh Pokémon due to their focus on different aspects of the universe compared to mainline games. Although there is some discussion over whether this categorization applies to Z-A, the fact that no new Pokémon have been introduced so far could support this view. Additionally, it has been proposed that the “Legends” title in recent releases suggests a spinoff game, but Pokémon Legends: Arceus seems to contradict this interpretation. However, these theories remain unconfirmed officially.
In the end, all we know for sure is that, so far, there are no new Pokémon in Pokémon Legends: Z-A.
Will There Be Any New Regional Forms or Pokémon Evolutions in Pokémon Legends: Z-A?
Despite the fact that Pokémon Legends: Z-A is a spinoff game and therefore may not introduce new Pokémon, could it feature new regional forms or Pokémon evolutions? It’s possible, but as of now, over a year after its initial announcement, there have been no announcements about new regional forms in Lumiose City or any new Pokémon evolutions related to Pokémon Legends: Z-A. We might see these when the game is released, but given that it’s almost time for its global launch, it seems less likely.
Pokémon Legends: Z-A Will Focus on Mega Evolutions
In essence, it appears that Pokémon Legends: Z-A might opt out of introducing fresh Pokémon, unique regional forms, and innovative evolutions, instead concentrating on the concept of Mega Evolutions. Although Mega Evolutions have a cool factor, they seldom alter Pokémon significantly, and in most instances, these transformations are not permanent, which can diminish the overall excitement – for both players and spectators eagerly anticipating the unveiling of new species of Pokémon within the game.
Pokémon Legends: Z-A‘s Release Date and More
Even though we’re disappointed that there might not be any new Pokémon to feature in Pokémon Legends: Z-A, this game still seems incredibly enjoyable. Pre-orders for Pokémon Legends: Z-A can be made starting June 5 on the Nintendo eShop, with its release scheduled for October 16, 2025.
In Lumiose City, you might witness Pokemon undergoing a special form of evolution known as Mega Evolution. Utilizing this unique evolution effectively during battles could significantly tip the scales of victory towards you.
