Ah, dear reader, gather ’round! It appears that the good folks in America have discovered a novel way to sprinkle their benevolence upon the realm of education. Yes, indeed! They can now donate XRP and RLUSD, as if tossing coins into a wishing well, thanks to a partnership between Ripple and The Giving Block. Who knew that digital currencies could be so generous?
The Giving Block, a veritable Santa Claus for nonprofits, has taken it upon themselves to help these organizations accept crypto donations and transform them into something useful—like turning lead into gold, but with fewer alchemical mishaps. Now, donors can support classrooms and teachers with the flick of a finger, all while sipping their artisanal lattes.
Pat Duffy, the co-founder of The Giving Block, proudly proclaimed, “We’re thrilled to partner with Ripple to empower nonprofits like DonorsChoose and Teach For America with the tools they need to fundraise in the digital age.” One can only imagine the confetti raining down in their office as they uttered those words.
Since 2018, Ripple has been on a philanthropic spree, donating over $200 million to universities and nonprofits worldwide. This latest initiative aims to shower U.S. classrooms with resources faster than a child can say, “I need a new pencil!”
In a particularly generous mood, the company recently donated $25 million using RLUSD, which has already funded more than 31,000 classroom projects on DonorsChoose. This windfall will support over 21,000 teachers in 13,000 schools across the nation. Meanwhile, Teach For America is using a portion of these funds to provide transition stipends to 2,500 new members, who will, in turn, reach nearly 300,000 students. It’s like a game of educational dominoes!
Stablecoins, such as RLUSD, are becoming the darlings of the charity world, thanks to their speed, low fees, and 24/7 availability. In 2022 and 2023, they were the most donated cryptocurrencies on The Giving Block’s platform. Who knew that digital coins could be so popular? Perhaps they should start a fan club!
According to Ripple, many U.S. classrooms are still in dire need of supplies. A staggering 9 out of 10 public schools have teachers pleading for extra resources on DonorsChoose. Teach For America is valiantly supporting students in 40 underserved regions, but alas, demand continues to outstrip funds. Ripple’s donation will bolster programs like the Ignite tutoring initiative and a new STEM Innovation Challenge. Because, let’s face it, who doesn’t want to ignite a passion for science and technology?
