Shift Up plans for Stellar Blade sequel to be released before 2027

According to the recently released financial report from South Korean developer Shift Up, it seems they are working on a follow-up to their popular game Stellar Blade, with an anticipated release date before 2027.

It appears that Project Witches, another upcoming game in development, is set to continue the series as a new installment from a separate intellectual property. At present, only 18 individuals are involved in its creation, while there are 148 and 107 people working on Nikke and Stellar Blade respectively according to the company’s organizational structure.

In other parts of the report, Shift Up praised the expansion of their successful gacha game, Goddess of Victory: Nikke, in a market that they consider susceptible to “cannibalism” and where user expectations are on the rise. This results in only a small number of new releases managing to stay afloat for even six months.

2025 may see a further increase in competition within the gacha game market, potentially welcoming new titles like Ananta, Neverness to Everness, and Arknights: Endfield.

It’s worth noting that as global user expectations for gacha games have grown over time, so too have the costs associated with their development and launch, due to these heightened expectations.
