As a long-time fan of FKA Twigs and someone who has always admired her unique artistic vision and strength, it is heartbreaking to see her go through such a harrowing experience. The allegations against Shia LaBeouf are deeply troubling and, as a fan, I can’t help but feel disillusioned by the actions of someone who once inspired me.
FKA Twigs, originally named Tahliah Debrett Barnett, alleges that her former partner, actor Shia LaBeouf, is using clever legal strategies as their high-profile sexual assault case approaches trial. Her lawyers stated in a document filed on October 18 and obtained by People on October 21, that LaBeouf hasn’t followed discovery rules, mentioning missing documents and an eleventh-hour decision not to be questioned first. This goes against previous agreements both parties made to be questioned within the same week, with LaBeouf being questioned first as per the agreement.
In a recent filing, FKA Twigs alleges that Shia LaBeouf’s reactions to document requests in this case have been extremely uncooperative and unresponsive. This has led to a production of documents totaling only nine pages. It seems suspicious since LaBeouf has claimed he can’t find or control any more relevant documents, suggesting that he might be hiding something. He claims he lost or misplaced his electronic devices or deleted important information before this lawsuit began.
To put it another way, I’ve been diligently complying with their requests, pouring over mountains of documents and crafting thoughtful responses that go beyond just a simple yes or no, as my beloved Cellophane Singer’s attorney.
In a lawsuit filed back in December 2020 at the Los Angeles Superior Court, FKA twigs alleges that Shia LaBeouf inflicted persistent sexual, physical, and emotional mistreatment upon her. Furthermore, she asserts that he intentionally infected her with a sexually transmitted disease.
She shared with The New York Times that her experience with Shia was the most difficult ordeal she’s faced throughout her entire life.
Later on, LaBeouf admitted to the same media outlet that he’s been harmful towards himself and others due to his struggles with alcohol and temper. He expressed regret for his past actions and feeling ashamed for the pain he caused to others.
Nevertheless, he subsequently refuted all the accusations of assault brought forth by the singer-actress, also requesting that she shoulder his legal expenses.
I’m excitedly anticipating the key hearing on Friday, October 25, which will mark the setting of a trial date for the case that involves me, FKA Twigs, and Shia LaBeouf.
