As a follower who has closely observed Hoda Kotb’s career for many years, her decision to leave the Today show came as a significant surprise – even to her colleagues. However, having witnessed her dedication and love for the show over the past decade, it’s not hard to understand that this wasn’t an easy choice for her.
Everyone was taken aback by Hoda Kotb’s sudden exit from the Today show. It might have been less surprising to her co-workers, but it appears that wasn’t the case, as sources close to the program revealed to People magazine that this departure came as a “complete surprise” for them too.
On September 26, Thursday, it was announced that the well-liked journalist was stepping down from the program, and sources close to the production revealed to the media outlet that this decision came as a shock to many involved with the show.
It was mentioned that Kotb had carefully considered this choice and had discussions with her fellow hosts, Savannah Guthrie and Jenna Bush Hager, as well. Notably, an insider revealed that Kotb made the ultimate decision for the sake of her co-hosts. At present, the show is primarily concentrating on Kotb herself rather than hiring someone to fill the vacant position immediately.
An additional source disclosed to the media outlet about Hoda’s affection towards a fellow employee. They expressed, “Hoda’s news, while unexpected for some team members, is met with immense affection. The entire team at Today is simply sending their warmest wishes.
In accordance with the report, I penned a heartfelt letter to the team behind the show, acknowledging that the decision I was making was both crucial and challenging. I expressed, “It’s said that two things can be right at once, and I truly feel this profoundly now. I cherish you all, and as much as it pains me, it’s time for me to bid farewell to the show.” The reporter further noted that my broadcasting journey has been incredibly significant in my life, and a new chapter awaits me in the upcoming decade.
She shared that she intends to continue in her current role until early 2025 and added that this won’t mark a full goodbye from the show. Kotb explained that she aims to remain connected with the NBC family, as they have the longest professional bond and she feels fortunate to hold them close to her heart. Kotb further stated, “I’ll still be here. How could I not? Family is family, and you’ll always be a part of mine.
