Shay Mitchell (38) Recreates ‘Baywatch’ Magic in Red Swimsuit During Action Packed Beach Filming

Shay Mitchell, known for her role in the series Pretty Little Liars, is now filming the Baywatch revival for Fox. She was seen on set looking completely engaged as she prepares to play a lifeguard.

On March 18th, the 38-year-old actress was spotted doing stunts for a movie being filmed in California, including jumping from a lifeguard tower onto the sand. This confirms she’s currently working on the production.

Mitchell will be a main cast member in the new season. She plays Trina, a character who recently changed careers before starting work with the beach team.

Trina, as described by Deadline, used to be a successful lawyer but left her firm to become a full-time lifeguard. She’s known as the most intelligent person on the Baywatch team – a dedicated and passionate individual who often relies on her instincts, though she sometimes overthinks things due to her intelligence.

The new series picks up the story from the popular 1990s show. It centers around a character we remember, now all grown up, and what he’s been up to since we last saw him.

According to Variety, the new Baywatch series features Hobie Buchannon, the beloved character from the original show, now as a Baywatch captain just like his father, Mitch. The story takes an interesting turn when Hobie discovers he has a daughter, Charlie, who wants to join him and continue the family tradition as a Baywatch lifeguard.

The show is also bringing back a beloved character to connect the past with the present. Cody Madison, a former heartthrob, now owns The Shoreline, a popular bar and grill inspired by Baywatch. He still occasionally works as a lifeguard, and acts as a mentor and friend to the new team, always offering a free plate of wings to celebrate a successful rescue.

The show features a cast of both well-known and new actors. Stephen Amell, famous for his role in Arrow, stars as Captain Hobie Buchannon, taking on a different kind of character than he’s known for.

I’m so excited about the cast! Along with Stephen Mitchell and Robbie Amell, we’ve got Jessica Belkin playing Charlie and Hassie Harrison as Nat, both of whom I think will be amazing. Plus, Noah Beck is joining as Luke and Brooks Nader as Selene, which really rounds out the team nicely. I can’t wait to see them all together when the show airs in the 2026-2027 season!
