Shawn Levy Explains the Fate of the “Confirmed” Professor X Cameo in ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’

As a die-hard Marvel fan with decades of comics under my belt and countless movie viewings, I must say that the latest twist in the making of Deadpool & Wolverine has left me both amused and intrigued. It’s fascinating to witness the intricate dance between rumors, speculation, and reality in the world of filmmaking.

Two weeks past, the movie titled “Deadpool & Wolverine” has been breaking box office records left and right, while captivating a global audience of millions. A substantial chunk of the movie’s success is due to the inclusion of many iconic characters from the past.

Prior to its premiere, it was speculated that more than 20 characters from past films would reappear, encompassing iconic figures of the original Fox X-Men series and characters associated with other Marvel comic book adaptations.

Before the film’s premiere, it was announced that several notable figures would make an appearance. These include Jennifer Garner as Elektra, Danielle Moonstar (Keen) as X-23, and Patrick Stewart reprising his role as Professor X.

Approximately a week before the movie’s premiere, there was widespread buzz on the internet about Kristen Stewart returning. Although it’s hard to identify where the rumor originated, it was substantial enough for many prominent media outlets to report on it.

In January, there were suggestions that Stewart might be featured in the film. When inquired about a potential role in “Deadpool & Wolverine“, the actor replied:

“There’s been a sequence of events, and it hasn’t been easy, especially over the past two to three years. We’ve faced numerous labor issues and health challenges, including the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.”

Apparently, as stated by the movie’s director, Shawn Levy, in his conversation with the Happy Sad Confused podcast, there were no deliberations about including Professor X in the film’s plotline at all.

Never even discussed. [He was] studied. Studied by Emma Corrin big time because the Cassandra sibling-hood to Professor X is really interesting to us. But no, never discussed. Never, never considered.

In essence, Professor X played a crucial part in the story involving Cassandra Nova, but it’s challenging to imagine how his character’s role might evolve beyond that plotline, given that Nova was resolved. Thus, Levy’s remarks are quite plausible.

Additionally, Levy has pointed out that the unfounded gossips and conjectures circulating online benefited the movie. The intricate blend of rumors, misinformation, and wild assumptions on the internet effectively preserved the film’s mysteries.

As someone who has spent countless hours sifting through the murky waters of the internet, I can attest to the fact that rumors and half-truths have become a persistent part of our daily lives. It seems as though the more information we have at our fingertips, the less we truly know. The internet has become a breeding ground for misinformation, with each new day bringing fresh waves of speculation and conjecture. I find it disheartening to see so many people being led astray by these rumors, which often have far-reaching consequences. It’s important to approach the information we consume online with a critical eye and a healthy dose of skepticism. Only then can we hope to navigate the digital landscape and discern what is true from what is false.
